As someone else pointed out, to get the best out of J-rod he needs a speedy overlapping winger who can:

A) go past opponents

B) can cross the ball

JJk doesn't have these two assets in his locker. Seamus doesn't have the second asset. Lamptey at Brighton offers these qualities in spades. I'd make someone like him a priority signing.

I watched jjk closely tonight. He had a few opportunities to cross the ball and bottled all of them. in space and With plenty of time, he either played the ball back or inside but hadn't the nuts to whip one in. If he can't do it against Salford he ain't gonna do it in the premier league. That match tonight showed up a lot of our weaknesses concerning certain individuals, Kenny being one of them.
@2:02 - vid is set to the right timestamp.

Love it when people just chat wham and ignore actual facts and evidence because it doesn't suit their agenda.

And look what he did when it came back out to him on the rebound, instead of whipping it back in there he...............plays a gutless ball backwards, losing all momentum.

If you think that one clip is going to convince everyone that jjk is a good and CONSISTENT crosser of the ball and is the answer to our right back problems, then you're more than welcome pal, but I think most here know otherwise.

Have you dug out the zillion clips where he played the ball gutlessly backwards or two yards inside, instead of, maybe, having a go at the opposition defence? They'd be a whole lot easier to find than that one clip you offered up, I can assure you.

Tbh I was disappointed.. he didn’t do anything wrong but he did what a lot of the team did last night, play slow negative football. Continually going back instead of looking for opportunities to go forward.. compare his game to Nkounkou and it was chalk and cheese in their desire and drive.

I expected a lot lot more.. needed to put his stamp on it.. not just blend into the overall apathy

I thought he was solid which is the best compliment I can give him. Lots of effort and endeavour so can't critisize him for his attitude and application.

Did he do enough to force his way into the first team? No not for me. His first instinct is to take a touch and then to just pass it back to where it came from

If he ends up being in rotation with Coleman for the season, that will be the weakest area of the team for sure.

Steadily unspectacular, i said yesterday we have a high bar he has to meet if he wants to be a permanent full back here, Niels is the example that is the standard you have to reach, its a huge talent for the lad.
