2018/19 Jordan Pickford

He's just very erratic. When he's on top form he's exceptional. When he's not on top form, he's liable to some absolutely appalling mental errors.

He takes risks. He gets caught out. But then keeps taking the same risks. He could surely see the square ball to Mina was putting us into all kinds of problems. Yet he persisted until we conceded..

I see it as arrogance. Until he improves his decision making he will continue to make errors.
Never seen an Everton GK who finds the stands with kicks more than this feller...and I've seen some terrible GKs.

A decent GK (not even a good GK) saves that Jesus header 10 times out of 10.

Atrocious.

I've said before that some people seem to be bamboozled into thinking an England international GK jersey is an indicator of quality - James, Green, Hart, Robinson......

Shilton, Banks, Seaman, Clemence....

He made two brilliant saves today.

The goals weren't his fault. Baffled how people are saying otherwise (well actually, no I'm not).

What he does need to cut out are those passes to Mina (even though Silva said that's how he wanted him to play).

One thing I will say is top keepers tend to win your team some points on their own.

Now don't get me wrong, Pickford has made some fantastic saves that have kept us in games that we've gone on to get good results etc.

But... I couldn't name you even one single game where he actually won us a point for example entirely on his own. Like one of them where the opposite teams fans are just like 'ah rah Pickford was unstoppable today it's just one of those days'

Whereas we more often than not against top teams have come away saying 'ffs any other day and cech doesn't save arsenal there'.

Idk.

EXACTLY.

It's never happened. He's had some decent games, but I cant honestly say that he's had a purple patch at Everton in the way that, say, Butland had at Stoke or Heaton at Burnley.

I just dont buy this lad. It's the triumph of presentation over content that many see him as a good GK. All those England fans might think he's done them a good job, but if they had the chance of having him at their club they'd think twice.

I would shift this lad out ASAP.

Confidence is clearly knocked since the Derby.

He needed to be taking both those crosses for me. Ball wasn't particularly hit with pace or stood up the back post like our goal so really he should be punching or grabbing them.

Ideally defenders shouldn't be letting the cross come in plus both centre back also shouldn't be underneath them but very similar goals and not positive enough from the keeper.

Distribution was okay but no real options to play through to.

Ideally he should have a stronger backup to push him but he need more help from his defence.

I don't think shifting him is the answer like. Not even part of the calculation at this point, but we clearly agree on the rest.

Statistically, he is the 3rd best in the league, behind Allison and Loris.

He's a decent GK but I'm not sure Everton was the best club for him to come to. It has introduced 'Everton that' moments to his game which he could do without.
