2019/20 Jordan Pickford

The thing is Dave, who's going to pay £15m for Pickford? I genuinely can't think of any team that would.

I think the more likely outcome is that we keep him as #1 for next season, at the detriment of the side.

Alternatively, what I hope happens, is that Ancelotti insists he goes, we end up signing someone like Meret, Onana, Donnarumma, Casteels or Lopes.

And Jordan ends up going out on loan somewhere to rebuild his reputation, possibly like Hart did to Torino, going abroad might be the making of him.
Minimum that will happen is that Ancelotti gets in a GK with a good reputation and experience of playing at the top. That's the advantage of having him: his contacts are massive and his stature will attract a player in who is good but not promised a starting place...initially. He wont allow this feller to remain in goal at Everton having it all his own way. How could he? It's costing him points and places (and bonus cash, no doubt).

Pickford would sell to a mid-table club, like we are now.

Look at the goalkeepers of the teams around us. I'm not convinced he's better than Leno, Henderson, Guaita, Pope, Ramsdale, Dubravka, Ryan, Foster or Fabianski.

If Villa stay up, possibly. That's literally the only place I could see him going and even then Heaton (and Reina) if he sticks around are both comparable. If Southampton have the cash, possibly, but they invested quite a bit in Angus Gunn whos' in a similar bracket.

All of those teams wouldn't do away with their own keepers and pay £15m to acquire Pickford. Not in my opinion, anyway.

Not under Ancelotti. Ancelotti will get another GK in capable of getting his chance and securing the jersey.

He surley knows by now that Pickford's form isn't a blip. He's not an asset. He's a liability. CA wont tolerate that.
If that's the case Dave,he'll want him moving on asap.We don't have the money to take the hit that we would by trying to sell him when he's our number two.

Which mid table club is going to invest 35 mill (15 mill fee + 20 mill (5years at 80k a week)) on a player statistically and clearly visible by the eye
over the last couple of years to be in the 3 worst keepers in the league?

Its the same with Keane. Who is going to pay 25 mill (10mill fee +15mill wages) for him.

It aint going to happen. Its all grim stuff. They will need to be loaned out and then prey they hit some form someone takes them off us.

Who's idea is it to play from the back these days. Started under Martinez, carried on under Silva and still going. Just lump it forward

Not convinced on the hysteria, me.

I think fans can be too susceptible to media narratives.

He's not been great, but he's not been atrocious either.

I'm not arsed what Graeme Souness and Roy Keane think - I reckon we need a 6 or 7 positions strengthening before the 'keeper.
If it helps, I was at the game, with no idea what Keane and souness were saying, and we were having a conversation about how bad he’s been. Perhaps we’re not just buying the media line, but coming to the same conclusion as them, because it’s the right one?

It's finding a buyer that'd be the difficulty.

Maybe he should be encouraged to go Italian like his professed role model Joe Hart?

I agree. It's a conundrum. Which is why I think CA will tell Pickford he cant think of himself as an automatic starter here next season. Maybe that'd inspire him at the Euros to put in eye catching performances to find another club.

TBH, I have no idea how we get shut of this feller or whether we can afford to have him sitting around on the bench no doubt poisoning the atmosphere. All I do *know* is that Ancelotti is here to put foundations down for a team and also collect a lot of bonus money based on PL placement. Just for those reasons he wont go into next season without competition for the GK spot. He's not going to wave 10-15 point per season goodbye keeping faith with this divvy just because he plays for England.

I thought the same but it's mistake after mistake with him and he's costing us points...

To be fair, we were pointing out Pickford's failings on here for a long time before the mainstream football media started noticing it.

They have only picked up on it recently.

We all knew as far back as December 2018.

It depends on how you rate atrocious.

Atrocious howler on a regular basis, arguable.

Atrocious in conceding an awful lot of savable shots, yes.

Atrocious in giving confidence to the rest of the defence, yes.

Atrocious maturity when dealing with criticism, yes.
