Since the Mahrez goal every single team who’ve had a direct free kick have aimed at Pickfords far post because they can see it’s a huge deficiency in his game. I was screaming at the telly that he was going far post and Pickford still tapdanced his way into punching thin air. You’d hope he’s getting some serious coaching because quite frankly there’s a few very Hartesque aspects to his goalkeeping game.

Not commented in this thread for a while but I think the last time I did, I said that if we were to ever make the top six, we wouldn’t do so with him in goal. Still need to upgrade.

Always got a worldie save in him, but always got a mistake in there too. Over a long period of time now, it looks like we can’t rely on him.

However, to balance it, it’s really important to remember he’s still VERY young for a GK. He’s rash and needs to add that calmness to his game that often comes with age. Might be another 2-3 years before we see the best of him.

He needs to turn it round quickly though, if he keeps this up, another 18 months and Henderson and Gunn could be moving him out of the England team too. Reputation very much on the line.

For me, a good keeper is in the Martyn mould. Solid, calm, consistent. Yiu dknt notice him. Spectacular saves are grand, but they need to be accompanied by consistently dependable performances.

First goal absolutely pathetic from Jordan. Any top goalkeeper should be keeping that out.

He needs to start working with the coaches to iron out some of the huge deficiencies in his game otherwise we should look for better.
