Strange how things turn out as I am Pickfords biggest critic, but after all these false accusations accusing Pickford of malicious assault I am now a defendant of this flawed keeper...

This is spot on. Being honest, I'm not a fan of the keeper, he is not good enough to play at this level, but as you rightly point out the media coverage is very very questionable.
If I could be so bold as to offer a hypothesis here, the media love a fall guys and our vile media houses have concentrated their efforts on the likes of Raheem Sterling, Danny Rose, Pogba and others. The penny has finally dropped that racist witch-hunts are no longer ok (even though some of these neanderthals don't know why), but the lust for a witch-hunt still remains. This tackle was exactly the result of over compensation for those accusations ... he went in decisively and being Jordan there are not many steps between decisive and over zealous

That’s exactly how it is mate and it’s a shame we have so many spiteful and devious people working within the football industry (media, pundits, ex-players etc...) who can’t just drop their bias for one second and be reasonable, civilised and call things for how they are instead of all getting up in arms and creating a bandwagon infused with hatred and malice to belittle a player who plays for a club they have an agenda against.

They have been building up in recent weeks in their questioning of his capability of late ( not helped by my own and other fans assisting that narrative) and this extra exertion is being put into place as the icing on the cake to make it easier to have him removed from this position.
