All those people saying they wanted the Leeds keeper the other week, tell me you wouldn't have slaughtered Pickford if he let in that goal just now or committed those brain-farts against Chelsea.

I think people just don't watch these other clubs enough. This is the standard of goalkeeping. Every keeper makes errors every game (and many more than that if you include the stuff Pickford gets picked up on).

He's not good enough, yes. However, I think people are being unrealistic and don't quite realise the standard; most of you wouldn't want any of these other keepers either.

There are plenty hoping he has a bad game so they can continue the "press". Looking at the other keepers in the PL with a couple of exceptions, most are average error prone keepers, similar to Pickford. If we could arrange to close down the RS, i.e. so they no longer existed, I would take their keeper.

I sadly think his rep is spent. Once a keeper gets that reputation for errors and is constantly mocked the confidence goes and it tends to spread to defenders in front of him. Leeds keeper looks another pickford. Pulls out great stops but again he has no real authority(mind you he is only 20)
Tend to agree though that there are not keepers around today like there used to be who had that real presence between the sticks.

You are both forgetting that hes leading the line for bad goalkeeping for the second year in a row. This isnt a situation where the fans get on his back for no good reason, he’s terrible and worde than most keepers in the PL.

I actually never want an Everton player to have a bad game. I accept that all keepers make errors. I never wanted Pickford in the first place. Always thought he was too small and another of those English young players who has a couple of good games and is suddenly.hyped up as a world beater. Still he had a decent first season but since then he has gone backwards. His height which I was always worried about means he struggles at corners and with crosses. He can make a good save but then let's in easy goals. He makes more mistakes than others. He seems to struggle with shots from outside the area which I think I'd put down to the position he takes up. Then he has that thing of grinning when he makes a mistake.
The game is all about opinions. I don't like Pickford as a keeper but that's my opinion. Same as I thought Dai Davies and Davy Lawson weren't good enough for us.

Thing is, he isn't worse than most GK's in the Prem. The standard is pretty tosh outside of the top 4-5 keepers.

Schmeichel's probably in that list and he makes some right mistakes.

Pickford isn't good enough, we need better, but what he's good at, he is pretty good at.

Issue is he has kept making the same mistakes over and over in the last 2 seasons now, and that's obviously a massive issue.
