I'm not moaning about him , I just know he's not good enough.
Could have very easily cost us a hard earned win tonight , as such luck was on his side.
He didnt contribute to the win tonight.
Didnt say you was,its just a very general theme, that even with a win people still want to moan, we have just beat one of the best teams at the minute in the league yet some are still moaning about him,
To be fair no keeper is ever good enough for Everton-even if we ended up with the worlds best no doubt some would moan

Probably right.
But we do need better.

Jordan Pickford should have got more of his hand on the Chelsea shot he pushed onto the post. Seriously though, I felt he made his save from the freekick a bit harder for himself than it should've been (by moving to one side before diving to the other), but thought the one he tipped onto the post was excellent as he was unsighted and would have seen it late. Decent enough game by the guy, no complaints here.

Decent tonight. Solid. For me difficult to figure out if he needs to be replaced or will remain the number 1. Recent performances even though results havent been good have regained some confidence in him. For me it's not ability its mental. A calmer version is more reliable.

100% needs replacing. Rushing out to punch a ball at the edge of the box. Getting caught trying to be clever with Mount’s free-kick. Inability to catch a single cross or shot.

Some decent saves but that’s his job.

Agree to a point. Fine line tonight being a sinner again. Mount lobs that into an empty net with him in no mans land he is getting slaughtered. Mount puts it over. he's got away with one. If hes coming that far out to punch, that ball better be heading towards the halfway line. Not drop outside his box. Free kick that hits the post. Why line up the wall and then start going the other way leaving HIS side unprotected.
He's dodged a bullet tonight.

I'm on the fence with Pickford, but I do think a fairer reading of the Mount incident is to look the two phases analytically.

First phase he came and won the punch when there was genuine danger if he hadn't.

Second phase the percentages were comfortably in his favour as the odds of Mount managing to lob over the melee of players and notably the backtracking Mina with the precision to score were very low.

I am happy with that decision-making.

Was actualy watching the defenders. I thought they were slow to react. If your goalkeeper is out like that your absolute first instinct should be get back on the line. I dont think mina is getting that if its just under the bar. To flat footed in my opinion.

Agree Mina misses it if just under the bar, but that's my point - the precision to achieve that is very low percentage, and did not happen.

If the defenders were slow to react that's not on Pickford or his decision-making in this incident.

Maybe. But if hes coming that far. That ball has to go further with his punch. Dropping just outside the box. Nah.

There shouldn’t be any percentage - he should not be coming out that for to a claim.
All football is percentages. I get the argument but for me 95+ times out of 100 the player receiving the ball in that position from that punch cannot score. How many times do we see a lob like that come off? I recall James missing an easier one for us last week and he is the consumate practitioner of that type of skill.

Arguably 7 or 8 times out of 10 the punch does go further so actually the odds of a goal ensuing increase exponentially to something like one in 1,000 if my memory of percentages from A Level maths is right. Maybe his technique can be criticised, but not the decision.

He’s not good enough. There was a few he come miles out for and produced a weak punch that he could have caught, he got away with the free kick today. I’m not a fan and never have been, even when he was at Sunderland, and at the end of the day he costs us more points than he wins. Sorry.
