2020/21 Jordan Pickford

United vs Sheffield United. 3 of the five goals are keeper errors, two from Henderson...

And if we just go by the last 7 days of football. Mendy, loris, Guaita, Schmeichel, Henderson, Ramsdale, Patricio, Ryan and Meslier have all made one or more errors resulting in a goal. And Fabianski gave away a penalty, most here would blame that on Pickford if it were him, so I'll include him too. Pickford's last error for a goal was what, West Brom? (and if we're including the long shots and Southampton's goal as people on here seem to, then I hate to break it to you, that list up there is much larger)

And this is just directly resulting in goals, this isn't including any of the other stuff like directly passing to strikers like the RS keeper does.

Just reminding people of the vast numbers of mistakes other keepers make, and keep people's standards honest.
It's not just about errors. He's a bad shot stopper too. The last two goals we've conceded were outside the box. Five outside the box in total this year. The errors just make it worse.

Exactly why we should start Robin.

All keepers make errors. The standard of keeper is pretty low in the Premier. Jordan makes errors also e.g. Brighton but he also dosnt command his box and for me he definitely makes the defence nervy, and tbh me as well whenever I watch him
I hope he learns from Olsen that you don't have to be the centre of attraction and can have a quiet game.
Said this many times I prefer a taller keeper. Height is the reason Jordan struggles with crosses and is effectively taken out at corners.

Most of the keepers you mentioned reel off games of clean sheets.
After 3 years of pickford i still cant get rid of that feeling an error, wether it leads to a goal or not, is guarenteed.
He's already got that thing no keeper ever wants. A rep for being a dodgy keeper. Part of that is unfairly down to the way he looks and acts.
Leicester the other night i actualy felt relaxed just because he wasnt there. No twitchy feeling. If i felt that i wonder if our defenders did aswell.

I think Pickford's twitchiness is his biggest problem. Even if it works for him, it's not calming for his teammates, and I think it boosts the opposition players to see it.

Major major decision by Carlo to drop him. He seen the crazy errors and seen he was lucky and wasn’t going to gamble anymore luck on that game. That’s why he is the best. Dropping a keeper after a clean sheet to win another clean sheet. Genius.

It’s funny how some people equate a clean sheet to ‘not bad’ he made some bonkers decisions that we were very lucky with. They result in a goal and are the same people going to say he did ok?

The moment the other night when Vardy just headed it from a yard out and Olsen just caught it. No stupid jump a foot to the left before the striker touched it for no reason, no falling backwards into his net when making the save for absolutely no reason, no stupid punch into the air, no ridiculous attempt to hold it and drop it.

Olsen just bounced it into the ground and picked it up. Goalkeeping basics but Pickford seems to struggle with them.

Till I see other keepers make howlers at the same consistent rate of Jordan I will class him as a number 1 liability.

People defending him seem to ignore the obvious impact he has on the defence, his erratic positioning and flapping on aerial balls and set pieces are not good for a centre half to stand in front of.

I think you're right that he dropped him deliberately after a clean sheet. I think it's a sign that he's wanted to drop him without damaging his confidence - and the only way to do that is wait for a clean sheet. He's probably been waiting to do that for weeks.

I'll be interested to see who starts in the next few games.

He's said multiple times that he's putting Pickford back in

Has he? Hadn't heard that. I remember him saying it when he dropped him last time.
Yes. He said it after the game (or maybe it was before either way) Wednesday and he just repeated it during his pre-match press conference. Pickford back in tomorrow. Hooray.

I wanted Ramsdale and Henderson at different times. Both were between terrible and awful this week. Oh where are the good keepers these days? There is only one top keeper, who shall remain unmentionable. Looks like Olsen and Pickford are worth keeping.
