Hopefully dropped.

He’d have cost us 2 points on Saturday if Mason Mount had hit the target following Pickfords feeble and utterly needless punch on the edge of his box.
He’d cost us 2 points lol that’s like me saying if Richy had scored 2 goals we would of won 3-9. Ifs don’t win matches or lose matches because they don’t happen

Long range, short range, headers, whatever it is, he's just not that good. He must have devolped quickly as a youngster and at Sunderland he had that much to do, cause they gave so many chances away he must have looked OK, just cause of the percentage of saves he had to make.

An established international goalie shouldnt be getting dropped for a league game. Carlo may not fancy him as a long term number 1. Hope it works out and hope its just a slight injury issue.

Has been better since Olsen has come in though. Still not great but last season after lockdown and at the start of this season he was dropping balls into his net.

any official info why olsen is on the goal today? carlo hasn't mentioned anything on the press conference, and pick seems smiling (at least from what i've seen on entrance to the pitch). injury?

I think the above can be summed up in the one incident against Chelsea where Mount hit the upright...He moved two steps to his right before the free kick and was beaten when it went to his left. He is seemingly is either trying to anticipate the free kick taker or seems to be worried that because he is so short he won't get to it if he doesn't anticipate.

Maybe a former goalkeeper could explain the above a bit better?

I'm just a amateur obviously but if you look you'll notice that all keepers are constantly moving their feet and when a player looks like he's going to shoot will try and anticipate where the shot is going, often its that split second head start which is the difference between getting your fingertips to a shot and tipping round the post and not quite getting enough on it and it going in.

For instance, the Guaita one for Palace against spurs on Sun late on in the game from a free kick, great save and he starts to go to is right just as the kick is taken.

Of course when it works its just expected good keeping and not noted, but when it doesn't it looks bad.
