2020/21 Jordan Pickford

Going to struggle to find a taker for him for the amount we'd want. We'd need him to have a fantastic International tournament.

Just in his last two performances alone he's let in a pea roller by Leicester after conceding a corner that he didn't need to then flapping and the 2nd goal yesterday he just had to catch the ball beforehand and calm everything down. He constantly boots it to players who are crap on the ball (Coleman), hangs into the ball too long when he shouldn't. The 3rd goal is just awful goalkeeping, we might as well have Tyrer in goal if we are saying that level of goalkeeping is accepting.

This is his 3rd season where he hasn't improved, in fact he's regressed as he's making more and more mistakes.

For his sake, I'd rather Olsen play in the Derby and make the mistakes we know he'll make because if Pickford plays and makes the same mistakes we know he will, that'll be the end of him as rated as anything other than a hot headed calamity of a keeper.

It was interesting to hear the opinion of a female pundit a couple of weeks back who stated that Pickford is fine making instinctive reflex saves, but falls short when he has to set himself.
For a goalkeeper, his footwork is definitely issue which contributes to him being able to get himself into position in time to make suitable, strong saves.

I thought he was having his best game for a while up until that third goal, which he probably should have saved and which put the game beyond us. No doubt City would have found a goal at some point anyway though, so hard to hold him responsible on this occasion.

This is the whole point.
He can make good saves and play really well, BUT, there is a mistake in him every game.

We need a new number 1. Simple as that. Olsen is an adequate back up, but he’s not good enough to be our number 1 either.

Apart from that he cannot clobber van Dikk again so who is he best to take out this time. (Salah)? That would make war with Egypt and a revolt by our koranic bretheren
