2020/21 Jordan Pickford

He’s quite clearly a confidence player. Not like Cech who would lead a team’s performance, Pickford relies on things going well.

Good team = good Pickford. I hope anyway.

Hoping my comments above stay true for the season, we badly need a good Pickford every game.

Amazing performance. Some sloppy kicks but he WON us 3 points today.

Excellent performance yesterday from him, long overdue too. But please stop the punts down the middle that always end up with a fresh attack starting from other end.

No matter how poor this guy can be, yesterday he proved why he is still England's no. 1 apart from that one uneasy moment in the first half where he didn't come for the ball on the edge of the 6 i thought he was top drawer.

Maybe the penny is finally dropping with him - it's your job to dominate the six yard box and come for crosses that are put in there. Apart from two in the first half when he never came off his line he then did come out and caught or punched crosses away. If he keeps this up our defence will be better, we'll be harder to beat and therefore get better results.

He's rightly taken a lot of stick and it's going to take more than one game to change people's opinion of him. But yesterday he looked focused, commanded his area far more than I've seen him and put in a great shift.

That's the standard he has to continue with though, hopefully he's had a rocket fired up his arse this pre season and gets his game back on track.

If he can play like this for a season maybe we can shift him for a profit.

I still think he’s an accident waiting to happen, but fair do to him, he was not far from being man of the match yesterday.

As well as he did yesterday, you just know his next blooper is just around the corner.

If we have confidence in him, imagine how the defence and rest of the team feel.

Hopefully the coaching staff have had a word and told him he has to be more dominant of his box to relieve pressure on the CBs, he still freaks me out with the ball at his feet and opposition attackers closing him down. He seems to leave it to the last second. More games like yesterday and things should be fine

His distribution created at least two good chances, because we look to hit the wings on his kicks some will sometimes stray into touch. He could easily punt down the middle but thats not what Carl wants it seems.
