To be fair, an ambitious player would have to leave us. He's 28, not 18. He owes us nothing more than what he has signed in his contract and even that is one-sided as the club can always cash in.

Pickford, if he is truly ambitious, will need to leave to find the limit of his horizon. The key for me is not that he leaves, but that we get excellent money for him, invest it in an excellent replacement (a la Livakovic) and spend the excess wisely.

Let's take one last look at that last sentence. Three key conditions. Nope, this club isn't going to satisfy even one of those.

Bet it will be the Coventry striker and Diaz. We must be gambling just like the time we bought McNeil and Maupay.

I have no complaints about his efforts so far. Whenever he's played he's deputised very well.
