That can't be true. In all honesty a relegation clause would suit both parties, I can't see why there wouldn't be one. We couldn't support his wages if we went down and a clause would ease his departure. I'm glad he's signing up but without a drop clause for transfer I'm assuming there's also no wage reduction clause either, which is high risk given our position.

Probably a £60m release clause. He won't have signed without a potential get-out clause in case of relegation or general club failure to improve, don't be naive, folks. Should we go down, even if nobody bids his actual release clause, he'll very likely indicate he wants to leave and will be sold to the highest bidder.

Apart from him and Onana we don't have any sellable assets, and we're losing about eight (albeit poor) players due to being out of contract in the summer.

Let's just hope we stay up.

There is no release clause.

You don't need a release clause.

If we're relegated, it'd be necessary to sell high value / high earners regardless.
