Yet another? Please list at least one other. Not exactly a mistake today, that’s all on the ”defending” of Coady who chucked 20 years of football coaching in the bin with him rolling out a red carpet to Buendia

Doesn’t matter if I was at the game or or, let’s not make my comment ‘you don’t go the game so you can’t have an opinion’ because I would embarrass you with how many games I have been to at Goodison since I was about 6 years old.

Pickford runs out of his goal and gets beat at his near post. That is poor keeping. All he had to do was stay on his line and he saves that shot. It’s a goalkeeper error.

What absolute tripe. The only way a GK can never be beaten at his near post if he is actually standing on it. Which would be a shockingly bad position to take. If a GK takes the perfect position, no matter what the angle etc then there is always a chance it can go either side. To suggest anything different is ignorant.

JP had a good game, kept us in it at times.

Sorry, but not having that. I get it that you think he should stay on his line rather than try and narrowly the angle/create pressure. Entitled to your opinion, good luck to you. But an error? Nope.

Another poster who knows little to nothing about goalkeeping, you’re not Lee Dixon are you? You do know the reason why goalkeepers come off their line don’t you?. I notice that you couldn’t name another time Jordan was beaten at his near post either.

I`m no fan of Pickford. It always looks bad when a keeper is beaten at his near post. If he stayed on his line he`s trying to make the Villa player shoot across goal by making the near post shot look not an option, if the Villa player holds his nerve he can feign a shot across goal and still beat him near post. Coming off his line he has to get right close to the Villa player, make him rush his shot and miss, but if he dose n`t close him down enough he can`t react to the ball squeezing past him.

I have never got the "shouldnt be getting beat at the near post" shouts.
On this one he came out to cut the angle and Buendia thumped it past him.
If it'd went to his left or through his legs nobody would've said a thing but because it went past his right it's a mistake?
Bollocks.
Just the usual slating mentality, dont want to see the good but can't wait to try and pick holes.
