Is it a release clause or a relegation release clause - they devil is in the detail there.

If we agreed to a 35 mill general release clause - its stupid.
Well yes, obviously it'd be a relegation release clause not a general one, otherwise Spurs would have probably snapped him up before the ink was dry. (Even though we all know if we go down, he'd be the first of few high priced and high waged sellable assests that would definitely be moved on, clause or no clause).

Is it obvious mate? I dont have patron so didn't read the article - does it say its a relegation clause.

If we are relegted the shortfall is 90 mill in revenue, we have 40 mill from Gordon so, Pickford takes us to 85 mill. That said we are posting losses of 70 mill last financial year, so would probably need another 50 mill just to break even on top, and wed have to the EFL are far stricter then PL on their application of the FFP rules.

Yeah that's what it says, but either way, JP would be one player we'd have no problem selling for value if we need to. There's more factors to the financial picture: potential outside investment, decrease in current sponsorship income, perhaps new sponsorships, Championship tv money packages, parachute payments, wage bill reductions from any contract clauses, and necessary player sales. Might not be firesale stuff, but could be quite a few out before in.

Thanks mate, so its defo a relegation clause, so fair enough really.

Agreed there are an awful lot of moving parts. + & -, the shortfall will be about 90 mill, so however we make that up, including any losses. One thing that scares me, is we found it hard to shift the likes of say Gomes or Gbamin and a few others (200k a week in wages right there), im not sure what changes between us being relegated that we will be magically be able to shift them with a year on their contracts, throw Dele in to. Likely be supplementing their ages by selling lads we dont really want to.

My guess is Gomes and Gbamin could actually be 2 of the easier things to deal with, seeing as both have been out on loan and are not part of our plans. Perfectly feasible they go back out on loan somewhere and leave on a free at the end of that year. Should be easy enough deals to do, they seem happy enough to play somewhere else.

Dele who knows. He may want to stay put and not go back out to the continent. Maybe someone takes a chance on him for a few mil or we give him a free. Can't afford passengers in the second tier on £80-100k a week.

Not sure about that mate.

If you were established as England's number 1 keeper you would most certainly insist on a get out clause in the event of relegation. It shouldn't apply to any of the other players though as they would be faced with playing at a level suitable to their abilities in the Championship.

Not sure about that mate.
Dyche might fancy himself to get a tune out of Dele in the Championship, Dele might see the drop down as a chance to get back on track. Gbamin hasn't been part of the club since a few run outs under Rafael really and Gomes didn't get much of a look-in under Lampard.

Short of Dacs/Onana/Gana/Iwobi leaving and us needing numbers in midfield, I can't see why G&G would prefer to come back to a club they haven't played for in ages, which isn't even in the Prem, if all parties are happy for them to move on with their careers elsewhere.

We wont be playing Dele in my opinion mate, he's a few games from a 10 mill trigger, so no way we are doing that in the Championship, he will be another stick in limbo with us shedding a wage.

Doucore is out of contract, so fine there. Onana - we could find a buyer for - al be it - we have 0 leverage. Gana, would he walk away from 80k a week at 34, would he get it somewhere else? - not sure. Iwobi - Turkey may be, still i dont see many coming in for him and he's on decent wedge here - so i think a loan.

Why would Gomes or Gambin come back, Gomes is on 110k and Gbamin on 60-80k, thats hard money to walk away from - they may get a loan out - but we will be supplementing their wages if they do like this season - on a championship budget.

Still a fair bit of ineffective fat to be trimmed to my mind, which would be depleting on a championship budget. I mean imagine paying 200k a week for Gomes and Gbamin, in the championship or 60k for Dele just to hang about and train.

Getting off topic though just relised.

So Jordan and stuff, killer quiff.

It's absolutely unreal that these two are still contracted for another year after this season. They've been around the damn place for what feels like five years. Offer a mutual termination or to pay them out 30% of their salary and get them a new club lined up ffs. Obviously completely up to them whether they stay or go like.

We might very well start next season in the Championship with Keane, Iwobi, Gana, Gbamin and Gomes all on the books taking home almost £500k between them. That's almost the average salary for an entire squad in that division. Very scary thought. But it's all that Everton deserves for the way the club is run.

Nobody will buy him at 35m. Laughable. You get better keepers for 10M.
Come on then captain negative, I would like you to name these keepers. I don’t think I’ve ever read a single positive thing on this forum from you but you can’t help hating on all of the players. Maybe you should knock Everton and trolling it’s players on the head and find something to make you less miserable instead?

You won’t name any of these goalkeepers who are better than England‘s number one at £10m btw, because you can’t.
