2022/23 Jordan Pickford

The only keeper in the world expected to be absolutely perfect all the time. Lloris will make more errors in one game than Pickford has all season yet the knives come out for Pickford as soon as he makes any errors at all, and what’s worse is even Everton fans seem to be gleeful when it happens.

One of our best players by an absolute mile and I tell you now we’ll have to be extremely lucky to get a better keeper than him when he does eventually leave.

How quickly people have forgotten Howard’s last few seasons, Robles, Stelelenbur.

Funny thing is Spurs want Pickford to replace Lloris.

Yes, he almost single handedly saved us last season, but are you saying he’s beyond criticism? I’m sorry, that first goal at Bournemouth came from what was barely a shot, it was a routine catch, and he just fumbled it straight into the path of the scorer.

Quite often there is transfer activity after big tournaments, but this time it’ll be January, not a summer transfer window. Will be interesting to see what happens if he has a good WCup. But anyway, our goalkeeper is the least of our problems.

Someone on a Sky show? Wanting Pickford to be #1? Bloody Hell

Its because its actually knows something about goalkeeping (Seaman), and thats with him discounting a goalkeeper at his own club (Arsenal).

Also, its probably been mentioned before, but he only has 18 months left on his contract and positions at the top clubs appear to be opening up....De Gea needs replacing soon, as does Lloris, plus Chelsea's goalkeeping position isnt exactly secure despite them having to big money goalkeepers.
Throw in that he is keeping Ramsdale & Pope out of the England team who are both enjoying there club seasons riding high, he wouldnt be human to look on enviosly wondering if his club career is just going to be mid table medicrity at a minimum and relegation battles should his team mates drop the level.
He should be playing Champions League football, it must be soul destroying knowing your englands number 1 but you have no chance of doing anything at your current club.

Do people think he will be looking at making big decisions after the World Cup? Who could blame him?

Of course he’s not beyond criticism but all keepers make errors, even the ones some might consider up with the best in the world like Ederson Allison Lloris etc. they make loads of errors every single game.

Pickford has been on a very good run of form recently and is probably the reason we’re still a PL club and not currently in the relegation zone, yet he makes a bad error at the weekend and the vitriol from some on here towards him was just instantaneous: ‘i want a new goalkeeper’ etc. Probably some of the same lot who still think Michael Keane and Tom Davies could still do a job. It’s just massive double standards.

Pickford is one of Everton and England’s most consistent players. He wasn’t in the past for Everton, but since Carlo took him out the team he’s been extremely good and one of the best in the PL over that period. He’s always been outstanding for England. All keepers make errors and all deserve criticism at times for bad games, but there’s far too many Everton fans who have swallowed the kopite media kool aid and can’t wait to pounce on Pickford for any single goal he lets in. We should be praising him as one of the few Everton players from last season and this season to actually perform at an acceptable standard.

Pickford made two mistakes on the weekend, but not sure that warrants this kind of response from some. The reactionary nature of our fans at times is quite astonishing. Never ceases to amaze me.

I couldn't care less about how many mistakes Lloris makes. I support Everton and the fact remains that Pickford makes far to many. It's not only the glaringly obvious ones that lead to goals which is quite often the case. It's other mistakes which puts the defence in danger. His twitchiness. He comes for a cross then back peddles. He punches when he could easily catch. He tries to catch when he should punch. His footwork at times is awful. Sometimes when you watch him go for a low ball he appears to fall flat instead of diving and consequently has to Parry when he could smother the ball and keep hold of it. Most of these so called world class saves he makes are saveable by any top class keeper. Yes he makes the odd world ie but so do all the others. I want my keeper to get the basics right first and foremost any worldies he makes is a bonus. I just don't understand the love in.

Short memories from some here: Pickford, along with a mere few other players, pretty much saved us last season from being relegated.

Yesterday's performance was far from what is expected, as have a few others, but on the balance of things we're currently still better with him than without.
Short memory forgetting that he was poor for the first half of the season and contributed to getting us in trouble.

He always ends up average. There'll be bad spells and he'll bounce back and there'll be good ones and he'll regress from that. But at the end he's always average.

But thats not true.

He has periods of amazing play, then now and again he will throw a Pickford.

It doesnt make him average.

Thing is with Pickford, his mistakes seem to lead to goals against every single time - other keepers drop absolute howlers and get away with them quite a lot of the time.

Some of his decision making it’s atrocious, and for a reputed fantastic distributor of the ball, the amount of times he just snots it into row z is a joke. I just wish he could calm down a little when playing, but he would probably lose a bit of his game and is too old to change now, but I’d hate to play in front of him as you wouldn’t have a clue what the loon was going to do next - his histrionics create uncertainty. Saying that, for shot stopping there aren’t many better in the league aside from the two Brazilian keepers at the RS and shitteh.

Generally, I think he's a good goalie.

Not sure he'd be worth another significant bump in pay, though. Could be a good time to part ways if there are offers on the table.
