2022/23 Jordan Pickford

To be honest, I feel that Jordan Pickford will have a stinker of a World Cup and we will see his 'stock' plummet. But it's just a gut feeling, based on nothing.
All I saw on a variety of back pages were pics of Ramsdale and a beaming smile. The rags just want Pickford to fail. If I'm honest the only reason I'd watch an England game would be to time when the first (unwarranted) criticism is uttered from the usual suspects of commentators.

I kind of remember Lee Dixon seemed to have something against Pickford at one time.

But really.

He won't be going anywhere, England's Everton's number 1.

In JP we trust.

I know people assume it would be us getting rid of him, but if Everton received a decent bid in January (for instance) from a top Club, Pickford could very say: "I want this. I'm 29 in a couple of months, I'm Englands' No.1, and I don't want to be at a Club with a constant ongoing 'project' in the works and fighting relegation". Personally, I would not begrudge him a move to a better Club.

If a decent club bid for any of our players they would be gone.

Personally, I believe they did. Neither of us has any insider knowledge of the situation, it's just a matter of opinions. So that's that.
I agree, nobody knows, I believe they made enquires, if they bid it was a pittance and wasnt enough to entice us.

I should have said "If a decent club bid a decent amount for any of our players they would be gone"

Im no fan of Ant Gordon, I was very harsh on the lad last season and he was pulling his tripe out and his energy was very beneficial to us.

This season he been mainly poor, I take NO enjoyment from that, we gambled that he would kick on and as of now, he hasnt. Hopefully this break does the lad good and he comes back firing.

Regards JP, if he has a stellar World Cup, there might be interest, whether any clubs that could interest him will bid decent money, I doubt, but the worst thing that can happen is he has a stinker.

Ironically I think a club that has a lot of shots against it is probably the best place for a goalkeeper to impress. Unless he has an incredible world cup and can cement his place he might be wiser to stay with us.

We saw how the media was pushing for him to be replaced over the recent years even after he was England's best player in the Euros.

We are very lucky to have a solid reserve keeper in Begovic though if that does happen but I would be lying if I wouldn't be gutted if he was sold.

He makes mistakes, all keepers do, especially the ones who play for teams like our who are constantly under pressure. In 60 years watching the blues, I would have to say that he comes in at about number 4 in the keepers I've seen for us. Nev was the best, without a doubt and he was closely followed by Gordon West. Nigel Martin was probably the third best, although we didn't have him in his prime so he and Pickford is a close run thing. Either way Pickford is our third or fourth best keeper in the past 60 years in my opinion and is a much better standard of a keeper than befits our current standard of a team.

Honestly, is he world class? Of course not. If we let him go will we manage to sign a keeper as good as him as a replacement? I very much doubt it. Honestly, who do you think, of the better goal keepers out there, we could attract without chucking an obscene amount of money at them?

It's still going on. Mind, there is no surprise that the below is from a former Liverpool player.

'Jamie Redknapp has demoted Jordan Pickford to his third-choice England goalkeeper as he names his ideal World Cup lineup'.
