One other thing I like about Pickford - there are absolutely no airs and graces about him, none of this airbrushed celebrity cult of personality. I mean, where's his "Jordan has got this" Adidas ad? He's every bit the England hero in terms of his performances as Bellingham has been. In fact, he's been way more important to England over the last six years. He's an ordinary lad who, whisper it, seems to like the simple pleasures. He's settled at Everton and in his personal life, and doesn't ever seem to be angling for huge moves to more glamourous clubs. Yet, he always does it on the highest stage for England - and is hugely responsible for Everton still being a Premier League club.
People talk about England players being "likeable". I don't think Bellingham, for example, is remotely likeable. A good player, but likeable? Nah, he's a mini-Ronaldo upstairs. But Pickford is authentic. He's a bit rough around the edges, but I think he's been a great ambassador for Everton.
