2024/25 Jordan Pickford

Every pen save is usually followed by its a rubbish Pen. whatever way its a 1st Home league pen save by any keeper in the league since Palace in October 2018
It was a trash pen, Pickford had started moving to his left before the ball even left Gordons feet. Lucky us Gordon isnt very good and let the preassure get to him. No matter how bad his pen was, well dont to Jordan for saving! Got us a point today.

mostly good today but was a bit frustrated watching him punch catchable crosses/corners today
He's never gonna be a keeper who comes and claims the ball and tbh I thought he did better today with commanding his box. Much rather see him punch it clear (he's usually pretty good at getting the ball away from danger whether it's a punch or a parried save) than see him fumble it when trying to catch it.

Yup. As a former amateur keeper at Mickey Mouse level myself, Pickford is playing the percentages. Far better to come agressively and punch a ball than it is to try to catch it...and fumble it. The chances of a goal resulting from an attempted punch are, in the long run, much lower than from an attempted catch.

Now, if he is punching balls when there is nobody around him, that's different...

I fancied him to psyche out Gordon and he duly did. Exactly the type of pressure situation he excels in although surprised this is first penalty save in quite a few years given he usually saves at least one in the England shoot outs.

Edit: must mean at Goodison with that Leicester save from Maddison mentioned above.

Hasn’t had the best start to the season but we’d have got relegated for all three of the last seasons without him and today he seemed back to his best and really kept his head screwed on the most he ever has against his Derby team
I love that he used to get a bit rattled by the geordies and kopites and now he has some of his best performances against them and in general in the big games where it really matters
