2024/25 Jordan Pickford

Jordan isn't infallible, and I wonder if during some of our recent games, he has just asked of himself too much and come unstuck, I mean that team set-up in all three games made me lose hope even before kick-off, so what must it do to his in-game concentration? Under SD it is just the inevitability of it that slowly creeps over you and he is literally the last man who can do anything about it after the other ten have failed to deal with the situation.

He could come out for crosses that are in his 6 yard box to be fair.

He`s paid to be a goalkeeper, which involves keeping the ball out of our net. That`s what we`re asking him to do.
 

He’s allowed to be sub-par after keeping us in the PL the last two seasons. However I really dislike how he always looks for that long ball every time.

That`s a pretty low bar to gauge someone`s performance to. His big problem is his lack of command of his area and this is not something thats been shown in the 3 games this season in the PL. If he sees a defender where the ball is heading to, even in his 6 yard box, he stays on his line to allow the defender deal with it. The problem with that is if the defender gets beaten to the ball he has nearly no chance to stop a shot or a header from that close range. Good goalkeepers do the basics right, deal with any ball played into the 6 yard box, gives a clear shout they`re coming for the ball and if a defender goes for the ball they collect the ball anyway and clear the defender out too.
Pickford has always been this way and will never change. If team see the last 10 minutes they will come to Goodison full of confidence seeing how much of a weakness this is to us.
As for this idea that we`d be in the championship if it wasn`t for him, I think he has played his part in the reason why we have struggled, but that just my take on him.

I that meant anything why have no clubs come in to take him off our hands? United, Chelsea, Arsenal have all signed keepers while he has been here, never took much of and interest in him as they know his limitations.
