I find the criticism of this lad slightly mental.
When goalies tend to make mistakes , it usually leads to a goal, thats the business they are in.
I would say any mistake he has made could of been rectified by team mates furthar down the line etc, but didnt.
E.g, the poor play by williams and keane for burnleys 1st, the terrible marking by williams for burnleys 2nd, and our defenders not defending goalside on stokes free kick. They are the only 3 mistakes i can single out this season.
De Gea i an think of just as many mistakes, especially at his weakness front post but no one utters a word.
I blame Gary Neville for the "the goalie could of done better there" mentality, almost every goal scored he blames the goalie, watch and you will notice he always throws a comment in with regards to the goalie everytime. I remember he had a go at Mignolet for jagielka's derby goal?????
Must have something to do with he is damaged in the brain after all the abuse he got off Schmeichel and he now just hates goalkeepers
Some people on here would want us to sell Pickford if he made this mistake
He's a top top quality goalkeeper, and we are lucky to have him at the club

Whenever we started a game with Howard (last few seasons), Joel (barring purple patch) or Stek I actually got very anxious we were going to concede or the keeper would mess up.
Not once had that same feeling with Pickford even if we’re still shipping goals.

Still young for a keeper, I think he will be one of the best, interesting comments from Kirkland yesterday that he was massively impressed how good the young keeper is from his time at Preston. He has some issues, mainly putting the ball back in the danger zone after a save but over time that will be eradicated, we shouldn't have to worry about a keeper for a good 10years with any luck.

Lloris and Courtois make mistakes all over the place yet are held up as two of the best. Pickford makes an error and half the fan base are on his back with some falling for Robles to go back in. Have people forgotten how poor he was? Pickford is the best since Martyn and he’s only going to get better. Some Evertonians just can’t stand having decent players in the team.
He's only youngish so there is time to gain a reputation, good or bad.
But, is 24 actually young ? As someone stated on here it used to be goalies got better with age and peaked at 28-30, it is far younger now Oblak(25), Ter Stegan(25), Butland(25), De Gea(27), so I have changed my first sentence to youngish.
I think some are overrating him in light of the fact that the rest of our summer signings were crap so over-emphasise the good one and ignore the rest. Think its agreed we we have more pressing issues than GK but if he does have a weakness at crosses then you can guarantee it will destabilise the defence and become a target for some of the more physical teams (funnily enough the sort of teams BFS is used to managing).
