Personally I think the Arnautovic one is an error with his technique which has been coming for a while.

Although you're right that it moves, the best keepers would be standing tall and looking to catch or downpalm that, meaning that even if you can't catch it you're still blocking it. He has a habit of not looking to catch anything like that though, his instinct is to push things away, which means as he was only planning to get his hands behind it anyway, the movement has taken it totally past him. He's been good this season, but not great. Those 2 yesterday were absolute shockers though.

Agree on the standing punching technique.

That's another he needs to get shut of.

Even as one of his biggest defenders, I have to admit he was poor for the goals yesterday after making a few really good saves in the first half.

I think the Arnautovic one - whilst it looks a pretty routine save - moves pretty quickly in front of him and catches him off guard. Should he get a hand to it and maybe save it? Yeah but I think you're taking away from the strike to just blame Pickford.

The Lanzini one annoys me because as someone who has grown up watching keepers - me arl fella and younger brother, both, at a decent level - the new technique of going across your body with your wrong hand has started to creep into the game and bar someone like De Gea pulling it off, it doesn't really work.

I'm blaming our new GK coach like, who isn't that great. You only have to watch his stuff with England on YouTube to realise that.

Still, he's been fine this season and the majority of goals conceded haven't been his fault. He'll be fine at the World Cup and next season too.
that vid of big nev piping down micheal owen, he pulls this technique apart in a few seconds, lads who do it either aren't working hard enough in training, or are more worried about looking spectacular. I don't think de gea does it to the extent pickford tried to, generally de gea's technique is excellent as well as being an incredible athlete, he's the most southall keeper I've seen since southall

De Gea did it a few years ago against us - the Fellaini winner - off a Baines free-kick in the first half. Unreal save, best I think I've ever seen whilst at it a game.

But you're right, he's so good at it because - one, he's just that good and two, his athleticism is unreal.

I think a lot of keepers are doing it to look flashy instead of focusing on making that save. That falls on them and their coaching. Hopefully, it's something the next man can fix with Jord.

Had a stinker with the goals yesterday.

Once you make that first error leading to a goal it can affect your game massively as a keeper.

Still, he's the business and we're lucky to have him here.

Maybe but a GK is only as good as the clowns in front who expose him. And we have some clowns!!!!

Every time I start to come around on Pickford, he goes and does what he did yesterday. A few good saves doesnt heal the nightmare he visitd upon us against westham.

Guess he'll never win over some idiots Craig Gordon had the same at SAFC despite him being a class act but people expected perfection

"He cost £9m he should be saving every shot, catching every cross the running up the pitch and scoring"

Let's be honest though, Craig Gordon was absolutely gash

Lets be honest you didn't see much of him he was in cracking form until Defoe wrecked him. A bit like Pickford he went to a new club with a shambles of a defence ours Halford, McShane, Nyron, Collins lol
Didn't he retire for a few seasons until he went back up to the pub league known as the Spl
