What if he was a young lad who was already working in Tesco? Football is his profession, like.

Then let him get on with the profession at a club who will hire him to realistically do a job for them. We've already stated our intent is to help him get a Championship/League One club position - my question of that is why the hell we would do that (and pay to do that with no prospect of ROI) when we have an entire youth system which should be allowing talented youngsters to come up and occupy the role Baxter is now in for 12 months?

Great. Then he should do it in the lower leagues, or better yet get a job in Tesco or whatever like any other 24 year old recovering coke addict would.

The club shouldn't be a charity to footballers - it can offer charity off the pitch, and fair play to our EITC initiative for doing so, but we certainly shouldn't be offering charity to a footballer, especially when said action actually halts the progression of a young player into the under-23s in the role this waster will be filling up.

But his job at Tesco might halt the progress of another employee with aspirations of being assistant regional manager though? And then you'd probably complain about that too.

But if he'd left Waitrose because he wasn't good enough and ended to working at Tesco's 4 years ago but been sacked for misconduct you wouldn't expect Waitrose to offer him another job would you ?

Wow that metaphor even hurt my head

No, because he'd be hired to do that job at Tesco. In this case, he isn't being hired with any thought to him being able to actually do a job for us - it's not a job, it is charity, plain and simple.

Well, if he does have skills it may help the up and coming lads.

Would you be more comfortable if he wasn't being paid?

Not really because, again, him playing in our developmental system is taking up a slot that could be used by a developing player instead of a waste of space.

I'd be completely not arsed if he was allowed to train with us to keep his fitness up - that's fine - but actually taking a playing space is ridiculous to me.

Yep.

A Charity that is being funded by supporters.

It isn't on at all.
