That was kinda the point of him going to Oldham years ago, an attempt to rebuild his career.

He can continue to work with EitC if he wants to, but he should be going to Tranmere and actually competing for a first team place of his own.

Didn't work then, did it? Maybe he's more mature now and has more resolve.

There is people on this forum who make a joke about drinking driving and players knocking their girlfriends about but get all high and mighty about a young lad doing drugs. Absolutely amazing really.

Why do we end up with egg on our face? He messes up then he loses his chance, and at least we tried to help him. Don't see how that means we end up with egg on our face.

Yep, I see your point.....you're right. I suppose I was taken aback by this story along with a lot of other it seems. On reflection, it's a great gesture by the club - a chance to turn his life around. The onus is on Baxter to pay back the generosity of the club by staying clean and getting back to playing football. This is the kind of thing that separates our great club from the rest.

I wish the lad well and hope he can conquer those demons that have plagued his short career so far. Work hard, stay clean, stay clear of the bad influences who had a hand in his downfall. Fresh start and all that. Make no mistake though, from an Everton point of view - this is his final chance and it should be spelled out to him clearly. Mess up and you're gone.

Its not just about the drugs, it's his actions of slating the club on twitter and the coaches at the academy.

His actions of denying everything and trying to shift blame on " I was spiked " etc etc and we are giving him another chance to blame someone else when it goes wrong.

If you criticised Gibson deal you can't praise this one.

If you criticised Rom for what he has said in the press and social media, you can't praise this deal as well. Baxter has said a lot worse about Everton than Rom on Twitter.

Another one to fault people over. Standards people, I demand it.

Was Billy Kenny beyond redemption. ?

Life is full of people who succeed after multiple failures wether it turns into a playing career or as a figure around the club who is there to share his story .

the club should be applauded for offering a helping hand there's plenty of former drug users who have benefited from EITC this lad should be no different we don't discriminate just because he could have had it all.

If he can show the next generation of players who could likely fall through the cracks how fortunate they are in the positions they are in what can happen through his own experiences he could prove to be invaluable to the club.

This is my opinion and I respect yours if different

Massive amount of head wobbling required. Ferguson had been in prison before we signed him - did he deserve a chance?

It'll be a short term thing to get him fit and maybe a move to a league one side. He's not going to feature in first team squad ever again, he is clearly not of that standard.

By the same token though the club is failing massively when someone like Big Nev is not welcome because he has views contrary to BK.
