I think when you post this stuff and agree with Joey Barton, you really need to look at yourself.

Nothing wrong with female pundits etc.
Some I like, some I don’t. There background and gender is irrelevant.

It’s the ones who complain about it being a tick box are ironically the woke ones.
Don't know what your interpretation of woke is, especially if you consider this as 'ironic', but I don't see it as this.

You have to wonder if he needs professional help. Not to take the pee btw, that just seems strange behaviour.
By professional help, do you mean someone pummelling him in the head over and over... and over... until he shuts up?

I agree with all this. I honestly am not arsed the gender of the pundit is. There's enough terrible pundits on both sides of the gender divide, so let's look at that first.

If they aren't a good pundit, criticise them for that rather than their gender. They let Michael Owen talk and he played in the men's game at the highest level.

It means sweet FA though as he's an imbecile.

Whilst Barton is an odious individual, lets be honest the fella has a point regarding pundits in the game. Punditry in football is a tick box exercise in which you must be either an ex RS player, black or female. I think it reflects on the current society we live in that jobs are given on the basis of a questionaire rather than meritocracy. Its not what you know its who you know comes to mind.

Eni Aluko, Garth Crooks, Jamie Redknapp - completely clueless yet all given well paid positions solely because they fit one of the above criteria.

Bartons problem is he isn't a very educated individual so the valid points he makes he does so in a brash, unsavoury manner that makes it easier for the woke mob to make an example out of him.

Why single out the women when the male counterparts are equally as good/bad?

Would rather listen to a few of the women pundits than some of the male ones and vice versa.

Gender and race shouldn't come into it, quality should.

Paul Merson, Jenas, Crooks, Ashley Williams (to name a few) all terrible. Got a job cos they're ex-pros that can probably read. When Scott, Carney, Sue Smith have to put the effort in under a spotlight, fellers want to stick the boot in

Cancel culture or so called is almost always based on a business or marketing decision

Remember the 90's / early 00's when businesses just focused on providing a service / selling a product to the consumer base and not getting involved in politics / culture wars.

Is it so difficult for these multi billion industries to just hire/advertise based on whats good for the business rather than the current modus operandi for many large corporations which is to pitch your sale with one eye on avoiding any social media criticism from small pressure groups ?

Social media / the internet has done many positive tings but its also been very divisive. Imagine if a football manager selected a young player totally out of their depth in order to appease a group of fans who are vocal about seeing more academy products in the first team. It would be ludicrous but thats what you're seeing happening - not just in the football/media industry either.

Think Joey has lost the plot here..
He hasn't, he knows exactly what he is doing.

He is a narcissistic bell. Was never a good footballer and is a rubbish manager.

So what can he do to keep himself relevant? Attack the low hanging fruit and make himself a fixture on those TV and Radio channels that bang on about talking about the things that "others are afraid to talk about" and the subjects that "matter to you".

ie being racist and sexist as much as possible whilst getting away with it. And why not eh? There is a massive market for that type of thing right now because an awful lot of people are also bells like Mr Barton is.

Just ignore him and it will go away.
