With the greatest respect, your first para merely repeats the tenor of your last post. People dont have to be intellectual or particularly eloquent to avoid using Barton's aggressive attacking manner. Likewise, I think we all know his main argument without the need for further elaboration. I dont see any relevance to you being a commercial photographer/your fascination with virtue signalling/Dominos Pizza though it would perhaps make a good new series suggestion by Alan Partridge at that BBC lunch. The whole paragraph nay post makes me think you perhaps had a 'good lunch'....I wish I had.

Im sure massive multi million media outlets like Sky -itself in an even bigger media empire- would never employ naive marketing graduates who would commit professional suicide by failing to grasp their raison d'etre and objective for the sake of virtue signalling. Its a bizarre concept....but...well, its a bizarre concept.
Was running a self help, chakra reset, feel good, nourish the soul website and youtube channel all of a month ago, are there no limits to this persons incredible talents...

I really couldn't care less who is commentating etc as long as they are informed, interesting and entertaining.

I liked the woman who was commentating on our cup game, best summarising I've heard in a while.

But although diversity is important I want the best people on the box whatever their colour or gender. And if the best people are white males then that's who the line up should be.

Fortunately any awkwardness is avoided by the absolutely abject abilities of 99% of white male summarisers.

Remember the 90's / early 00's when businesses just focused on providing a service / selling a product to the consumer base and not getting involved in politics / culture wars.

Is it so difficult for these multi billion industries to just hire/advertise based on whats good for the business rather than the current modus operandi for many large corporations which is to pitch your sale with one eye on avoiding any social media criticism from small pressure groups ?

Social media / the internet has done many positive tings but its also been very divisive. Imagine if a football manager selected a young player totally out of their depth in order to appease a group of fans who are vocal about seeing more academy products in the first team. It would be ludicrous but thats what you're seeing happening - not just in the football/media industry either.
United Colours of Benetton.

Nike, Adidas, Reebok aligning with various youth culture/sporting figures to sell product.

BP and Shell 'greenwashing'.

It's all in No Logo mate. First published 1999 I believe.

It's not just about avoiding criticism, it's about hitting target demographic for sales. Nothing new in this sort of stuff.

@Daveysgingerlovechild is disappointed with @ForeverBlue92. @Daveysgingerlovechild thinks this padwan must try harder.

That isn't woke though, that is the actual opposite of 'woke'.
Are you new to this?

Well it isn’t, do you know what woke means, in terms of popular culture?

This is someone who is easily offended and trying to cancel people. He is offended a Woman dare speak about football or someone who is black. By the gbeebies definition that is woke

I think an early comment had it right when equating punditry to part of the entertainment package the sport is now marketed with.

The frustration I have is that compared to the coverage of other sports football is poorly served by the co-comms or studio analysts in advancing appreciation of what you've just seen. Unlike, say cricket, where the broadcast team enhance understanding and supply context.

Barton is a bad bell, he couldn't pay me to witness his observations, even with a comedy French accent.

Yes but it was written by a woman so there’s no chance he’s read it. Probably thought it was Calvin’s daughter…
