judge us at the end of the transfer window – not now

This part seems to confuse people. Last season we had Richy and Gordon playing, this season we have Gordon and McNeil/Gray playing.

We haven’t replaced Richy with a homegrown boy - he was already playing.
But that still hasn’t “replaced” Richy since they were both starting games for us. We’re a player missing there. McNeil & Gray are never going to be that player.
You have mentioned Gray playing this season despite him, like Gordon, also playing last season.

I think you’ve missed my point a little, or may even be as confused as you say I am, as I have not suggested McNeill or Gray replace Richarlison. I suggested it is Anthony Gordon’s time to sparkle fabulously as part of a wider context, that is all.

Gray offers things Richarlison couldn't. I reckon Gray will get close to Richarlisons total goals too.

Richarlisons work rate has gone but we've strengthened elsewhere to make it not matter as much.

I’m not confused. He may have been playing but he can take a step up to the next level now.

A fully fit DCL and Maupay, also changes us. To be fair to us this season we’ve created - particularly young flash. We’ve had a lot of shots on targets and chances created we just haven’t been clinical around it, you have to think the addition of two strikers changes that.

Think you’re asking a lot of Gray there from a proven patchy player.
Gray & Gordon have an ability to get in behind a defence that Richarlison didn't have. Gray should've scored Vs Brentford and was unfairly robbed of another goal Vs Leeds.

We have a better team this season now and more creativity so I expect more goals from both Gordon & Gray.

I agree.

If we’d have signed another CF that would have given us DCL, Maupay, Rondon (stop laughing at the back), and said new CF.

How, under the financial restraints we complain of, could we justify having and paying wages for 4 when we are only playing 2 max?

I think we have had a very solid if not spectacular windows I think it has been very sensible. We cant address everything and buy a new team in one window. All our buys from the central defenders, midfielders to the striker we have bought have given us bite and more snide. We look finally like doing the rebuilding job that we should have started about 5-6 years ago and it will take a few windows. midfield is so pivotal to controlling a game and our midfield is the most competitive I have seen for a while. Its all about how good Frank is as a manager now

Have to agree on that. Gray turns possession over a lot taking shots he shouldn't be taking. He thinks he's a footballing Steph Curry or Kobe Bryant. Steph is like Lampard was - full license to jack them from wherever, whenever he feels like it. Enough go in to justify the hubris. Kobe didn't make as many, but if there's no other offense to speak of then he should, indeed, just jack them all night.

Gray either forgets that there are attacking alternatives or thinks he's Lampard too often. I'm not sure which, really.

I think the window had a good mixture of experience and youthful prospects

Only real issue was not tying up an additional attacker to go with Maupay

Aside from that, I think we're stronger both in defence and in midfield now following that window, so if Maupay and DCL can start scoring goals then hopefully we'll be okay

We have added Garner and Gueye since we failed to win in five games.

Are we expected to believe it gets THAT much better with their addition?

Let's not kid ourselves: we desperately needed another forward in here.

You're stance is that we should've bought in a replacement for Dom who's still here though. Was never going to happen.

We've gone from a midfield of:
Davies, Gomes, Allan, Doucoure to:
Onana, Doucoure, Garner, Gana, Allan, Davies (moved Iwobi).

Defence was:
Holgate, Keane, Godfrey, Mina, Coleman, Patterson, Myko
To now:
Tarko, Coady, Mina, Holgate, Keane, Godfrey, Patterson, Coleman, Myko

Forward line:
Dom, Richy, Rondon, Gray, Townsend, Gordon
To:
Dom, Maupey, Grey, McNeil, Townsend, Gordon, Rondon

We've strengthened massively in areas you need to build from. We're lacking that lunch up top (we need Dom back) but in comparison to other teams in the league, we're not adrift striker wise.

Saying that, could be better. But I wasn't expecting things to be solved in one window.

At this stage last year we were rocking with Rondon, Townsend and Gray, I think people have forgotten that and pretty much did for the first half of the season. We are actually better then that now in my opinion.

Richarlisons form was awful until late January, Gordon wasn’t a stater really either until after Xmas.

When you actually look at how we were setting up in the first half of last season, to what we have now, we do look to have improved, I’m not saying perfect, but it is better.

Think we are strengthen after this window, but you can't foresee injuries (fingers crossed).
A midfield of Garner, Doucoure, McNeil, Onana, Allan, Guye, Iowbi and Davies should give FL good options.
Our defence is solid, hopefully Holgate is back in a few weeks.
Our attack are far from perfect, but Gray, Gordon, DCL and Maupay should bang in a few goals.
Some deadwoods are gone; Gomes, Mbamin, Deli to name a few.

Transfer fees have been reasonable, far from the Koeman / Walsh era

Let’s not build richarlison up to something he wasn’t. He always put in a shift but was not a clinical finisher. His workrate has been replaced, and along with an improve defence and midfield, this is a much better squad than last season. We’ll be fine.

The all round team dynamic is better imo.

Dare say it, more balanced? Which it hasn’t been since before Walsh and Koeman thought they’d sign every midfielder in the world at once.
