Well technically if you KEEP replacing your best players with better ones... Yeah you'll probably get to the top eventually...Is that going to get us to the top?
We've never been a contender really have we? Which top players do you mean? Arteta? Lescott? Fellaini?Well technically if you KEEP replacing your best players with better ones... Yeah you'll probably get to the top eventually...
You didn't answer the question though
I'll start this off by saying I am as excited as most with the direction Mr Moshiri appears to be taking our beloved Everton since his arrival in February.
We read of some shrewd off field appointments already in the Moshiri thread, and of possible movements on the horizon with some genuinely talented individuals getting involved in some capacity.
Stadium issue appears to be moving along with finally some news to come soon on a potential site that may excite us.
So my genuine concern at the moment is... "Just how do we compete on field and become challengers once again?"
Our next Manager will have the reported £100m transfer budget, which is exciting us all no end.
But I wake up this morning down here and read that Jose will have £200m to spend on 5 key targets to make Man Utd title contenders next season, including of course our John Stones. Mr Lukaku is as good as gone. Man City with Pep will no doubt have endless to spend to make them Champions next season, Chelsea and even Liverpool will possibly go on similar spending sprees this Summer.
I am genuinely finding it difficult to see just how we are going to be able to catch up when we are constantly going to be losing our best players to these clubs.
Stones and Lukaku this Summer. You just can't lose your best talent and expect to replace them for like.
We need to make a stand at some point and not be a feeder club. Show a sturdy backbone that we won't be pushed over.
Genuine discussion please.

I hear you. But that policy hasn't got us anywhere. Here have some world class talent in our team finally, and it appears that we will just lose them. 'World class' and 'best in our team' can be a big gap.I was asking when we last sold our best player and didn't replace them with someone as good or better.
I'd say the answer is probably Arteta. FIVE years ago. Hardly a current pattern is it?

Just sit back , enjoy summer and watch it all unravel Kith.
A good scouting system for a start, the RS ate proof that splashing the cash doesnt mean your going to come top of the league,a manager that can get that bit extra of of a squad, instil a belief inplayers
Hope that wasn't just a one off freak storyTwo word answer to your question, Kith.
City.
And Leicester.
They have chewed up the script and spat the received wisdom into the dirt.
The title can be won without spending mega millions.
It can be won by teams not managed by a small coterie of managers regarded as Demi gods by the press.
A good managerial appointment and a (relatively) decent transfer budget and there is no reason why we cannot be up there.
Just like Leicester City
Not to take away their hard work, they spent the same amount as us this season. And Leicester.
How close has Sevilla gone to winning the league, or being contenders to do so consistently? I am not talking about being a cup team.Thing is, do we really need best in class for every position?
I agree we have not replaced Arteta but the problem we have this year is not like a few years ago when Moyes left.
We have more flair players now, younger too, perhaps no one in the Arteta mold but a better manager can rejig the team and make it a winning team again.
From there we can fill the missing parts.
Just watched Sevilla hold Barca for more than 90 mins. A good team does not need everyone to be the best in class to make us contenders, a good manager is the key.
Once we start winning on the pitch, we need to couple that with off the pitch work, like the academy, scouting, marketing and all those revenue generators we've never got.

I want to be consistently in a position to win the League.
