Transfer Rumour Kalidou Koulibaly

Looks kind of like the approach is to try and sign a statement-style worldie CB for ~£50m (VVD, Koulibaly) and a cheaper English CB for ~£20m (Keane, Maguire, Gibson).

Would be quite an eyebrow raiser if we pull it off.

Well RK has said he wants Rom to stay and push for CL with us.
If he manages to get 2 CB like that it's a real sign of ambition.
I posted earlier that we could have a gross spend of 180 million ( 75 million in sales , 30 million Sissoko money and 80 million this years budget ) so going big on 2 CB for say 75 million leaves 100 million for 3/4 midfielders /attackers plus Rooney (who I think is nailed on ,wether we like it or not ) all fighting for first team places straight away
A real sign of intent

What is 30 million Sissokho money?

Swerve Koulibaly, good player but not £55m IMO.

Buy Pickford, Keane, Rooney and Gylfi to begin with.
I would still try and buy Cedric from Southampton and Tierney from celtic. (kolasinac looks arsenal bound).

GK, CB, RB, LB, AM, CF all covered. Then if Romelu wants out, buy a prospect (please be dolberg )and proven player along the lines of Lacazette.

There was a bid put in by Everton to Newcastle on deadline day in January of 30 million for Sissoko
That bid was accepted.
The player then chose to sign for Spurs instead
I assume Everton FC had the finances arranged to pay the said fee and were not taking the Mickey
If the finances were arranged and available in January I can only assume they are still available and have not been mislaid along with the Arteta money.

Could that not be the money which was spent on Schneiderlin as the sums are similar and he happens to be a central midfielder too?

Schnederlin was bought before the Sissoko bid was lodged

Schnederlin was bought on the 12 th Jan
Sissoko was a deadline day attempt.
I'm just guessing that the Schnederlin and Sissoko money was the money that was bid for Koubailly. 60 million

We've subsequently signed Lookman and Schneiderlin for more than that though. Not saying we won't have money to spend but you can't just keep adding up rejected bids from previous windows to get to your transfer budget.

Also need to take wages of incoming players and wage increases for our existing players. People seem to think these players play for free.

Schneiderlin was bought in January, the Sissoko bid was during the summer transfer window.
