Been thinking this over for a few days since something popped up in another thread. Got me thinking about past keepers we have had and the high hopes I had for them. Ultimately they let me down.
Richard Wright I thought was going to be absolute great for years for us. Had a nightmare and then went into obscurity.
Simonsen was another who ended up being a disaster. Sure he was signed as a record fee for a keeper aswell.
Myhre was probably never great but as he was a random keeper from abroad I was hoping he would be boss. Don’t think he was terrible but just never really breathed confidence.
Westy was a good Keeper......the worst has to be David Lawson & Jim Macdonah who was so small - awful Keepers....... Richard Wright fell out off his loft pre-season & injured himself pre match falling over the sprinklers with a sign he missed saying keep away- a bad signing by DM from Arsenal......All of them apart from Southall who was boss
And the semi replay against the RS....not particularly but he wasn’t even bang average. I feel he let us down in the League Cup Final defeat by Villa.

Paul Gerrard. Now that was one bad keeper. There was a game in the early 00's when Paul Gerrard let a few in quick succession and the fans were chanting for Steve Simonsen. Not sure what game it was but it was at Goodison.
I remember that pre match thing, at Chelsea, only time I've ever been the Bridge.Westy was a good Keeper......the worst has to be David Lawson & Jim Macdonah who was so small - awful Keepers....... Also his attitude seems to have changed since Carlo came in, a lot less laughing at mistakes.I honestly worried for Pickford but he seems to have given himself a kick up the arse of late and has improved his form as well as his confidence.
He's that big now he would have a job to push it......Neville Southall.
Every week I'm let down that he doesn't collect our bin.
Ted Sager sends his regardsMy order is Southall, West, Martyn...then Pickford...then Howard. The rest were hopeless.
