We /He were in 'poor form' all season for various reasons and combinations of reasons along with the most of the team...and it all came to a head on that night, mistake begat mistake, there was a collective...'just catch the kin thing willya Westy' (or similar...but not in a nasty way, more like in a ffs its a gang of part timers way) from The Gwladys. Westy then had an 'arm wave' - not quite 2 fingers - go back at the crowd.
Minor uproar ensued

Westy had officially 'Lost It' good style.
Yep he got dropped after that incident plus his performance early on in that tie - Andy Rankin kept him out for a while, plus when Westy was injured he never got straight back in -
If Andy was playing well, he kept the keeper's shirt - He was a puzzling Keeper Andy - either brilliant or full of mistakes on occasion, but did great when he left us for Watford - Geoff Barnett was our 3rd keeper ended up replacing Bob Wilson at Arsenal - he never really got much of a chance with Westy & Andy around .... Geoff won a FA CUP Medal with Arsenal ....

Westy on his day was the top keeper, so agile for a big keeper .... Record signing for a keeper when Catterick signed him from Blackpool - £28,000 for a young keeper back then ...

And then a few weeks later it all went pear shaped within a few days with Panathanaikos and the RS semi at Old Trafford.
And then the barren years of the 70's

But despite all that they were better times than the last 3 decades
The 70s now look like halcyon days, It was a hugely disappointing time when we lived through it but in hindsight it was a great time to watch the blues we never won anything but we were always in the mix.

And great away days on the football special
And we were very eco friendly throwing all those light bulbs out of the window
