Throughout the past we've been frankly horrific at transfers on so many levels and the combination of a 'careful' manager, lack of finance , a 'upstairs' that seem to be clueless and operate a left hand ignoring the right hand policy means we are hardly the poster child of transfer business. You only have to look at Jelavic where we were the only club that wanted him, his agent was the managers brother, the selling club was going bust and the player had done all his could to position himself for the move but despite that we still nearly ballsed it up.

By typing all of the above I suppose I'm not saying the board deserve credit for doing what they should do in terms of the mirallas
deal , I just mean they've done ok and perhaps as much as anything I'm just surprised because its far from par for the course.

Moyes and his scouting team know which players they'd like to buy but whoever negotiates the terms of the transfers , I'm presuming it's Kenwright, is usually the ones who drag their feet by virtue of the limited funds available. This is noticeable by Southampton recently bidding £11m for a player, a team that was playing at the 3rd level of our football alongside Tranmere and Carlisle only a couple of years ago. It's those barriers that Moyes has had to face for a long time

The bunting is at the ready in the Moomin household.

Just waiting for the official confirmation.

If we sign that Niang and get Johnson on loan, or that Greek fella I will buy some sparklers to celebrate.

Papers reporting Sunderland favorites to buy Adam Johnson for 10m.... He's what, 25 years old now, really don't think a loan is beneficial to either City or Johnson really and can only see an outright purchase... plus he's from Sunderland and has played for them before successfully as a youngster.

When he finally signs I will celebrate by upgrading my afore-mentioned biscuits, malted milks, to Hobnobs. Then maybe my neg rep calling me a " tightar$e" will be retracted.

You know who you are

Another French site is reporting that Mirallas has passed his medical and will sign a 4 year contract for us today. I think this is something like the 3rd separate French footy website now, all seem to be proper legit sources too:

The transfer of Liège is officially recorded. All parties have agreed and passed the medical tests.

Party Saturday morning in Athens, where he moved to Olympiakos, to Liverpool, once the agreement between the two clubs endorsed (7.6 million bonus), the Red Devil has passed medical tests that will lead this Sunday, on a 4 year contract.

In the scheme of David Moyes, manager of Everton in Brussels this Wednesday to see Mirallas then talk with him, Mirallas could evolve on the left wing attack but also in support of Jelavic in the 4-4-2 .

13 Belgians in the Premier League

The Premier League now has a 13th Belgian, a Red Devil ninth in its ranks. After Vincent Kompany, Boyata Dedryck, Marouane Fellaini, Eden Hazard, Jan Vertonghen, Thomas Vermaelen, Romelu Lukaku, Simon Mignolet, Moussa Dembele, Yassine El Ghanassy, Stede De Ridder, Marnick Vermijl is indeed Kevin Mirallas who joined more great world championship.

Need to see this confirmed today ffs.

There's a reason this hasn't been confirmed.

According to reports in Greece, Everton and Olympiakos have agreed a fee, the player has agreed to terms and will pass the medical.

The issue is that Everton have requested the transfer fee payments be structure in a way that is not suitable to Olympiakos.

They want the entire transfer up front whereas we are looking to structure the deal so that we can pay him off through repayments or installments over a period of time. The clubs need to iron this out before the deal is rubber stamped. Negotiations are ongoing.

The player has travelled to Liverpool for his medical and the club is hoping an agreement can be reached prior to the game against United so we can parade him at half time.

That's the latest.

The debts were cleared with the sky money,I reckon there's another signing to be made before this window closes, and we won't be selling anyone.

Why would they give the lad permission to come over for a medical & agree terms with us, when they haven't accepted our bid?

Sorry I can't have that.

I think we will be in debt for a while longer. Weren't we taking out loans as advances on SKY money then repeating each season to keep our heads above?

Myabe the other 6 has gone on buying Bill a new Bentley or something (he is ace at negotiating)

They've supposedly accepted the bid though, he says that in his post from that Greek website.

I have no doubt we are trying to eek out the best deal for the club in terms of paying the fee over an extended period, because doing it so will probably mean we can sign 1 or 2 other players as well.

I wonder as well if there was anything in the French website link from last night, which suggested Barkley going to Olympiacos on loan for a short period (no buy clause for him), just to gain experience.
