Mirallas may have more skill but Kone has proven himself to be a good link between the Midfield and Attack as well as being a threat. (Who thought anyone would be saying that after last season or that miss vs Stevenage).

Honestly think that Mirallas knows he still has a big role in the squad, and Martinez doesn't want to be left without Mirallas for Winter because of some bullshit injury making him miss an entire, and important, period which we struggled with last year immensely.

Soon as anyone loses form in the attacking positions he should be back in for at least 3 games. He's still one of our best players.

The coasting part might be asking a bit too much, though. It is Everton in the League Cup after all...

He has to be patient, our attackers are playing well, He is still a class player just needs to sort his mentality out.

Although in his defence i think the penalty snatch was frustration and him wanting to win. It's certainly bit him on the ass.

Mirallas is a quality footballer but our squad is strong now so he is no longer an auto starter.kone is nowhere near as skillfull but you don't pick a team on skill alone.kone holds ball up well and links play and helps out defencively better than Kev and we have del doing the trickery on one side.i think martinez thinks playing del and Kev together is having too much of the same and del is playing too well to drop.the seasons only 1/3 through so Kev needs to stay patient and do as well as he can in a bit part role until things change because they always do.
