Pretty sure that he is going to seriously tear a team apart soon, looks like the penny has finally dropped that he's screwed unless he really plays well and grabs any chance he gets

If he was training with the U21s I'd understand but he's getting on the pitch, he just hasn't looked in form bar the last game. Not like he's frozen out or anything.

He'll come good.

I don't doubt his ability. But will his chance actually come?

For his chance to come he'll either have to have a stormer against Boro or someone will have to get injured or go crap. Neither of which is ideal as our league form is decent right now.

Up to him I guess.

So much speculisationalityification in here.

To me it just seems like he has had a stuttered start to the season, never quite fully fit...suspension...Deulos/Kones form. I think by the end of the season his minutes and stats will still show he contributed more than his fair share to whatever we achieve.

undecided if i still like him now, sometimes i think he's all cool and exciting and other times i think he's a sulky silly man

he's a bit unlucky that the players in his position are in their best form

totally up to him mate, he has the ability without doubt, now he has to show he can turn that on when he gets the opportunity, with Naismith, Kone and Deulofeu this season so far Martinez has shown 1 thing for sure - that if you perform outstanding given a chance you will get a run in the team from that

Very true.

He's been unlucky. Started the first game of the season and got injured by a bad tackle. Came back with 10 minutes at the end of a game and got a 3 game ban for a straight red card. Then Deulofeu went into beast mode and established himself in the starting XI.

Quite possibly. Never really got a strong sense that Martinez likes him all that much - he's far more of an individual than a team player, which doesn't suit us at all.

Impact sub/good squad player seems to be his role for the foreseeable. If that's still the case next summer he'll probably be off, which is understandable for all concerned.
In his time here Martinez has only been hugged three times by our players celebrating a goal - one by Rom vs Chelsea and twice by Mirallas, Spurs away last season and iirc Villa at home the year before. The journalist Kristoff Teurrer who seems well informed on Belgian players also said that Martinez almost doted on Kev and Rom.

So there apparently was a good relationship at one point, hard to know on the outside if it went wrong but relations did seem to change after the penalty incident.

Hopefully it can be restored if it has been broken as Kev on form is great to see, we could especially do with his skill at free kicks at the moment.

Hah, I really meant in the sense of Kev's playing style but that's a great bit of observation, although I think the Rom hug was when we beat Arsenal 3-0.

I expect player-manager relationships will inevitably sour depending on selection but the WBA game did seem like something of a turning point for the worse. Did that come before or after Kev came on and played a blinder against WHU in the cup? I can't remember.

Ha, was thinking Arsenal and somehow that morphed into typing Chelsea because Rom was still on loan!

Was after WHU, think that Kev was so full of confidence after that game that it might have gone a touch to his head...

Over a season just about every player will presented with an opportunity to make an impression and KM is top of the pile of those waiting for their chance.
When it comes, he will know that if he doesn't take it , others will and that is true of everybody.

That is the real strength of a strong squad.

Most talented player in the entire squad, its an utter joke that he sits on the bench while Kone attempts to play football.

Sort of agree on that one, except that a player has to do a job which is useful to the team and fits in with the style/formation we are playing. Kone has linked play together well his season as well as scoring goals.
Blimey, never thought I'd come on here to justify selecting Kone.

Think he will be gone in January West Ham would be my bet, he will not get a champs league team coming in for him. Anyway if he goes so be it as long as he is replaced by Yarmolenko..
