Strong evidence of this. I was in the camp that his services should be retained, as I think that arguably he still has something to offer.

However, this was on the basis that he was able to compete for a starting place. Being merely a sub on a regular basis isn't a strong point.
 
I like Mirallas a lot. Absolutely superb player on his day. If he's not, you're playing with 10 men really (or 9 and Howard, whatever you like). He's a bit of a sulker of course, but I really don't see the point in us extending his contract when you not gonna use him properly. Kevin Mirallas is a far too good player to let collect splinters in his arse on the subs bench. Either use him in a correct way or just sell him.

Exactly this. The onus is on Mirallas to prove his worth - he hasn't done so for a long time.

He did enough to deserve a start next game; instead of blaming Martinez, let's see if Mirallas takes his chance now, or if he does his usual.
 
was crap and scored a beautiful goal. Imagine how much he would add to the team if he was in form? He is just a dangerous player who needs more time and confidence. The Martinez "try to bring Mirallas back to Earth" attempt has backfired and it is killing us. His ego is what made him so good for us last year.

Agree. We'll be able to play on the counter at Newcastle (obviously, we'll have more possession more than likely, but the key will be how we play on the counter).

I'd get Mirallas in, and either Lennon or Cleverley on the other flank (depending on McCarthy's fitness). Give the chance Mirallas to prove his worth, and give Del the rest he needs.
