Shame to see the poor display from him today when given the chance. Doesn't bode well.

Saying that, I hate it when he's shoved out on the left wing. So much more effective down the right.

20 minutes in a half that everyone was terrible in is barely proof that he's a bad player.

This

I'm convinced that the reason Martinez has never started us with an attack of Kev, Ross, Rom and Del is because he knows it'll be great and we'll be demanding it from then on

Better to stick Kev on for 20 minutes, for Del, and partner him up with a tired Kone

Martinez wants Kev to fail so he can justify getting rid

It seems to be working as well

Get around a table and sort this out, both of you!

Gave away a stupid foul or two but the team had lost all rhythm by the time he came on. Thought he did ok tbh. He needs to be starting games, and I've no idea why he's so unpopular on here.

ummm. so he wouldn't play a successful formula because he knows it will make him a better manager?

unless this was a sarcastic post.

nah

All I'm saying is Martinez obviously wants rid, and he doesn't want to risk Kev getting into a position where he's overly important to the team. Despite a vocal group on here, most of the fan base still likes Kev. By keeping Kev out of the team, Martinez minimises potential backlash from selling him

No but it adds evidence that, at least this season for whatever reason, he isn't an effective sub.

He's been a sub in 7 league matches and 1 cup match
Spurs 45 mins - poor
Swansea 1 min - awful
Arsenal 20 mins - can't remember anything one way or another
Sunderland 25 mins - Ok but iirc should have buried at least one chance
West Ham 26 mins - again can't remeber one way or another
Aston Villa 15 mins - excellent even though didn't score/assist
Boro 9 mins - anonymous
Norwich 21 mins - anonymous

It might be that if Kev got to start a run of games he'd perform well but he isn't forcing his way into the team by his sub performances which is what Deulofeu, Kone and to an extent Naismith did earlier in the season.

I really like Kev but his career looks to be stagnating so if a decent offer comes in I'm assuming it'll be taken. Probably suits both parties as Kev can move to a club where he's starting and we can use the money to go towards getting whoever Bobby has lined up in the transfer window.

Something I found quite interesting is that Tyias Browning has played more minutes than Kev has this season.

Admittedly in those limited minutes he hasn't done anything to warrant a start but coming on late in games does make it hard to find form or consistency. I'd like to see him given one or two starts in a row so he has the chance to show if he deserves a spot or even if he just wants to be here.
