2022/23 Kevin Thelwell

He was appointed February 2022; he let us play 8 games with no centre forward.

He then came back with Neal Maupay, who alongside being utterly gash, is not remotely suited to what we needed.

For 2 full seasons we have struggled to score. He’s been here for 16 months and we still have one striker and a winger who played well in the last 12 games

He’s been a monumental failure.

But it’s ok, because now are statical department can look at all the data and tell us that we can’t score

We instinctively try and find the positive angle during the summer as we try and move from doom and gloom to optimism but the thing is, and to be fair it's not hindsight stuff as I was like a stuck record with last summer - we needed goals and he didn't address that. That decision absolutely buried us last season and we were minutes away from a Doucoure worldie from going down.

We finished last season with our lowest ever points total and he contributed to that. January was a total disaster;

No room for misplaced optimism when we have just survived relegation 2 seasons on the spin by the skin of our teeth.

Thelwell for me is a massive concern because he has no credit in the bank.

We ended the last 2 windows weaker than how we started it. Do that again and it's curtains.

That’s the whole club mate. I think people are underestimating how screwed we are with Moshiri’s funding cut off. Forget FFP, businesses with no cash flow go to the wall. You think he didn’t spend the Gordon money because he didn’t feel like it? It went straight to paying the bills.

Maybe the MSP money or a big sale might change the picture but right now we’re trying to flog Simms for enough cash to pay Rodrigo’s release clause or a loan fee for Danjuma. It’s unsustainable for a premier league team to operate like that. You can maybe try to break even on transfers but when even the profits you make on the likes of Gordon are taken off you to pay the bills because the owner is a busted flush, there’s nothing any DoF can do.

It’s good that DBB and Sharp have gone to bring in new expertise and hopefully Bill will follow soon. But if things don’t improve it’ll soon be Thelwell Out, then Dyche Out, then the next CEO Out and so on. It’s Moshiri. It’s all about Moshiri.

There is a question about the Maupay deal, and bringing in 3 midfielders for me. As well as not utilising all our loan spot (including 1 for Vinagre)

Absolutely mate, not saying he's above reproach, would've been better with 1 more forward instead of one of the midfielders, although admittedly Onana and Garner are individually good signings, and I wonder if the insistence on midfielders came from Lampard. We definitely under-used loans, in our financial predicament got to do better, Forest made far better use for example.

So he's probably at a B for transfer dealings- we've turned a profit in the market since he came in, and if we sold all the players he brought in would likely make a decent profit on those too, but he's left us short in key areas. I'm just saying pegging the blame on him for our problems is a long way wide of the mark, he's operating with his hands tied behind his back by years of mis-management before he got here.

He's got zero pull. Tarko, Danjuma, Coady, for the most part wanted to play for Lampard. Gana was an easy one. Garner and Onana were scouted well. It's rumoured that McNeil and Maupay were way down a list but their clubs accepted the payment structure.

The only thing going for him, and it's thin, is that he actively went to get Kudus and Mudryk.

January was a mess. Desperate, change of management late on, and £45mill in the bank so every player and agent upped their prices.

Don't think Dyche has too big a pull as a name and neither has Kev. So they'll have to scout hard and look at the long game especially with finances as they are

….well said, Chris. Thelwell should be done for gross negligence.

Thelwell managed to sell 2 attackers for 90 million that scored a total of 4 league goals last season. Then, apparently hes going to get 7 million for Simms, and 20+ million for Gray.

Is he a genius? Seems indisputable at this point.
