Have we ever had a good DoF? If the answer is no, then it’s because of the well publicised deep rooted dysfunctional problems at Board and ownership level. It’s difficult to do your job when you have next to no funds in a sport that’s awash with money and pretty much you can’t make mistakes. I’m not a Thelwell promoter or detractor, I just can’t see how you disassociate performance from our DoFs when you had a collective [Poor language removed] team in Moshiri and his puppet board.

His CV isnt anything to shout about though.
Dof at Everton is a waste of time. Im yet to be convinced its nothing but an expensive position not needed. Rather just have a few experienced scouts.

Tarkowski, McNeil, Garner, Chermiti all seem like good buys to me.

Onana whether loved or hated everyone can se we signed him for £33mil and is now being touted around by the media at £50/60mil.

The poor signings e.g Beto and Maupay were made under financial restrictions. Same with Young, Harrison and Danjuma short term moves.
Think we will see similar. A couple of free transfers to provide numbers and who know their way round the league. Same with Loans.

Then a few bets on youth who won’t be ready but will be bit part players who hopefully appreciate in value. These players maybe more expensive and unknown

He doesnt only sign players. All the football from kids to first team is his focus.

If we signed e.g Harrison loan & Ndidi 3 year deal + 3 u21s to develop over 2 seasons then that is fine with me -- it shows were building slowly.

He signed 2 strikers who were available for no upfront payment. I'm sure if you'd given him £50 million to spend upfront he would have chosen different players.

Agreed, but we still have to pay the fees for them even if it is a Klarna style deal, and the pair of them have been largely ineffective in a team that were crying out for a striker who could contribute.

I recognise that he’s had his hands tied, but I also think he could have done better, which I’m hoping he does this summer.

I am ready for a hideous, grinding season that is dull and effective. Once BMD is in full operating mode, ownership is sorted, lending repaid / refinanced then I think we may be in a better state to push on. Baby steps on the way I am afraid and that will mean pragmatic football for another season.

Like you is we are showing a slow progression to a better squad I am ok for next season

I didn’t realise he signed Tarks and McNeil.

Agree on those 2, and Gana but Onana and Garner I think the jury is still out and Young has been a liability the majority of the time he plays.

He signed 50mil pounds worth of strikers last year and neither of those get a game in a team that scored one of the least amount of goals in the league.

Lets hope he has a good summer.

I thought it was 18 and 32? Either way, they weren’t very effective last season. Let’s hope he has a better window this year and manages to bring in some players that can contribute from the first day of the season.

Chermiti was £11mil + add ons taking it up to a max of £12- 15mil if theyre all triggered.

Beto i think was £21-22mil with add ons taking it to £25mil.

Various figures in GBP and EUR were quoted at the time so it wasnt very clear.

I think if we saw Chermiti's performances for us for another team we could probably see him moving for £20mil based on potential (after all Wolves paid £35mil for Fabio Silva).

So we may lose on Beto but we should gain on Chermiti.

If we had not signed Beto but instead signed 2 more Chermiti types we would be in a far more positive position now.

In theory all our teams from the youngest up should be playing the same way, so we always have players and coaches that suit the style - but Dyche ball renders the theory useless.

what in his CV says he's any good at any of it? A few coaching badges in america?
The alarm bells should be ringing at sanctioning the purchase of beto who looks like he's just been introduced to a football. Money available or not i reckon two visits to watch beto and i'd have gone no thanks i'll prob find somone better in the championship.

I think it’s a lot more than just sorting a scouting network ….I would have thought it is overseeing all of the different age groups and possibly even having indirect oversight of training facilities, negotiation of contracts etc. I think the role has merit, unfortunately it had no merit under Kenwright and Moshiri hence its utter failure here

So are you also saying that you would now sell DCL (as from your comment i assume you think he wasnt effective over the whole season) and also punt Maupay?

If i could see the future and we finished on 50pts next season.

We made several 30+ aged short term signings along with Coleman, Young & Gana....but brought in e.g 4 Chermiti types at CB, RB, CM, RW who showed over the season they could be rotation options.

Id be pretty positive about going into the new stadium.

My hope is that we find a couple of players like this chap linked: https://www.transfermarkt.com/matias-moreno/profil/spieler/1144700

His latest video looks similar to Branthwaite at Carlisle -- bringing the ball out, passing and last ditch tackles. Im confident that between them Thelwell and Dyche can at least find 3 development players at CB, RB and DM as that seems to be their forte on the defensive side.

Then a right winger a bit further along like a Gnonto or Asprilla type.

Things can change over a season. I wouldnt be happy with only DCL & Beto but Chermiti gives me hope...nice to have that over a few more positions.

Were not Ajax or Man City.

If we have a youth team with super players passing on the deck why ask them to play long ball?

These things arent all black and white especially with a manager with one year on his deal.

Clearly we brought in him and Chermiti for no money down. For all we know Chermiti could go on to be a £50mil player.

If you went to every championship club and pitched them £0 money down (like we did in Jan for Asprilla) for their best forward who would agree?

Exactly this. Weve never given a DOF freedom with the manager, Kenwright and Moshiri all having greater imput.

Am praying for a Beto sale !

Oh massively it is. But as i stated in another post. It scares me that he was involved in the signing of beto who struggles to even control a ball. Now put someone like that over seeing the future of this club regarding kids.
Granted i glanced at his CV. Nothing on there suggests to me he should have such a say on who might be coming through for Everton in years to come.

With this Dyche system i think defenders and defensive midfielders can come in and do well if they follow his (somewhat weird) instructions and have ability.

With the wide players then need to be effective both ways & centre forwards we now have 3 different types in DCL, Beto and Chermiti.

Only Chermiti seems to have the high technical ability along with desire. Hes the one you keep.

DCL couldnt hit a barn door most of the season and was crocked the previous 2. Beto looks out of his depth & Maupay will surely be sold.

Im not sure why anyone would be against selling all 3 of them and replacing with a new starter.
