I've no idea if he is doing a good job, I do think it should be acknowledged that the remit of a DoF goes a long way beyond the individual transfer windows, and I have seen the intent to improve and change those systems within the club with the hiring of new staff and creation of new roles. Regards transfers, if lasts nights revelations and confirmations from the ITK's doesn't tell you the recruitment team have a near impossible hand to play with then nothing will, and we can all make ludicrous claims about how we should just get all our business done in the first week or just pay the money etc etc until our clubs doomsday. I hope we survive this period and then we can see if the long term structural planning Thelwell is doing is of any use and if they can get a transfer policy in place that is sustainable, but while the current desperate power grabbing clown show goes on above them, the crying about Thelwell and the recruitment team is complete ignorance in my opinion.

That all makes sense but then……Neal maupay

He must be a lunatic if he was fully aware of the mess we are in before he took the role.

…really? He’s talked his way into a £1m + per year job he’s not in the least qualified for. He’s only qualified to add to the mess so is perfect fit for FM & BK. They slap each other on the back and decide how to keep the fanbase at bay; Curly, Larry & Mo.

He holds the UEFA Pro licence, UEFA advanced license (one of the youngest to do so), a BSc in sports science and LMA in applied management.
Was director of coach education in Wales
Director of youth at Preston
Academy manager at Derby
First team coach at Derby
Academy manager at Wolves
DoF at Wolves
DoF at New York

You can critique the performance of of someone without making false statements like he isn't qualified for the job.

Spending all of that money on Onana should have been a stackable offence. Massive holes in the side and we spend that on an ineffective young player.
Least he’ll give a return on investment, compared to Gbamin, Allan, Bolaise, Mina, Delph, Tosun, Walcott, Schneiderlin, Williams and Sigurdsson, Onana is veritable master stroke.
That lot is circa £230 MILLION plus wages down the toilet.

The Chermiti signing was so weird given our finances. Kev is the guy that takes the cow to market and comes back with some magic beans.

Wouldnt disagree but we've needed someone to lead the line for 18 months now as calvert lewin cant be relied on.
Thats a hell of a long time to not address this issue. Not even once. Not even a loan.
Those brought in are not lead the line strikers. We need a presence up front.
18 months. 18 long ass months is taking the piss. Biggest factor imo in the club being 45 minutes from relegation was this issue.
Restricted job it is. But its not 18 days or weeks. Its 18 months.
He shouldnt be excused for that length of time

We must have paid a very low initial fee. That's the only way it makes sense if the majority of the payments are in a few years time.

You've reeled off his CV there. Anything in there stand out successful? Ive only glanced at his 20 year record tbf. Nothing stood out.

I always think someone dedicated can get a UEFA licence. That doesnt mean they're successful.

If there’s any defence, I’m not sure which proven strikers have moved or gone on loans in that period that we should have been on to, certainly within our price range at least.
That said 18months is a stretch and you would hope with his team of hundreds he could have identified a 20 y/o then who would be ready now. Or maybe they had higher hopes for Simms etc.
