2024/25 Kevin Thelwell

I’ve not been too critical of him due to the tough nature of the job he inherited, however the striker situation is a complete shambles:

- Main striker who is injury prone, struggles to score, and is probably leaving for free in the summer
- Back up striker who is miles off the required standard and will probably be sold at a loss
- Back up striker who struggled to score, hates the club, and is currently out on loan
- Youth prospect who wasn’t cheap, can barely even get a cameo appearance, currently injured
- Loan striker who was injured when he joined, made a few cameos without scoring, injured again and out for the season

Five strikers yet not one is of any use to us. We’re now scrambling about to try and get one in January, with a tight budget and no loan spaces. He’s failed miserably.

- Main striker who has scored a whopping 17 goals in the last 3.5 years combined gets offered a new deal to stay instead of being pushed toward the door at the first opportunity.
- Back up striker who is not only miles off the standard but was being chased by Big Kev for about a year before finally being signed for a measly £25m.

Ndaiye aside, his attacking recruits have been woeful.

Maupay aside.
I'm not defending the striker recruitment with Thelwell cos it's been pretty poor tbh.

But if we had DCL , Broja , Beto & Chermiti all full fit fighting for their places it would be a world of difference from what it is now.

As of now we have 1 fit striker who is a best a back up and some real injuries to our main striker and other Back ups.

Can't really say Thellwell seen this coming or is to blame for it.

Two of them have well documented injury troubles, so I’d say it was foreseeable to some degree.

As I said initially, I’m sympathetic towards him because of the constraints he’s had to work with, but on the striker situation he has to take some blame.

You might want to revisit this.
