Maybe so, we will see in the summer (if he is still here) can he redeem himself, I'm more than willing to give him a chance and look forward to seeing what he can do.

Still don't get it with the Weir thing. What's he done that's so special? How many "doing a great job at Brighton" guys need to flop elsewhere before people realise the magic is happening elsewhere?

Also, whoever we get needs to recruit 8-10 players so we need someone with an actual track record in recruitment. If Weir isn't heading recruitment at Brighton and the names are coming from the data room then maybe he's not suitably qualified. If he IS heading recruitment then we also need to question why he spent 250m last summer on assorted wingers and attackers, neglected the defence and crap keeper, and as a result they are no better for all the spend.

I'm not sold on Weir as DoF. Seems like too much of a punt. If they're making a change then I'd prefer someone with an established track record over several years. It's a specialised role and a lot depends on the setup of the particular club.

As we said, I don't know any DOF where every transfer was 100% success rate.
Maupay 5m loss hurts, but we paid a bit over 10m, for a player that hit double diggts in the PL before, which wasn't an excessive fee like Gylfi or Tosun... Could have worked, but it didn't.

Done tremendously well to keep something resembling a squad together with huge off the field problems. From reports is also addressing the club structure in a systemic way. What I would call a proper football man.
He has to go...cant believe there are people on here being positive about his interview. He has failed the club. Had 31 days to bring a creative winger, and nothing. Zero accountability...up to moyes to work on the next miracle...maybe we can convert virginia as our new winger. Ridiculous.

I don't buy the inflated price...you have 31 days to find one player in the entire planet. Not saying it's easy, but that's why they get paid the big bucks.
His remit is to balance the long and immediate future of the club, if the value isn't there in what absolutely is an inflated window then without an imminent threat of relegation we keep out powder dry. You and I have not got a clue how close we are to a psr breach, what players are available, who isa possibility in the summer or what funds we have. To scream in absolutes about a situation we don't have information on is a bit silly
