In any normal football club, the director of football would make the call on when a manager should be moved on. Unfortunately we are not a normal football club, so dinosaur Dyche and his cowardly tactics will still be in place for the rest of the season.

If Kev pulled the trigger now, it would endear him more to the fan base, who’d realise he makes the calls when needed.

There’s no point giving Dyche any more time, what’s he going to do? Double gaffer days and injure half the squad again?

Kev, make a decision, execute it quickly. You should have a replacement lined up, or at least a short list, get it done.

Is he empowered to pull the trigger ? I imagine - given how small the Dyche entourage is and that their contracts expire at end of season - paying them off won’t be as costly as previous firings.

We could just keep them on the payroll and defer new managers wages till end of season.
Or just sack them and keep them on payroll. If they get another job they lose the right to their remaining pay.

I think thelwell has done a good job. Tim and ndiaye both look great signings. I just don't think thelwell and dyche compliment each other
Totally agree. When the DoF is doing a good job and the manager a bad one, the writing is on the wall. No points after Villa and the trigger will have to be pulled. Hopefully he has control to do so,

Do you know whether it’s in his job description to hire and fire managers?

For example, if he has the same scope of role as Brands, why didn’t Brands appoint Benitez? If the the rumours are true, Benitez was hired by Moshiri/Usmanov on Usmanov’s yacht)

Ultimately completely up to Moshiri, although Thelwell can of course make his recommendation, and I'd be interested to know what that would be right now. I imagine Thelwell will be a frustrated man right now. My guess also would be that Textor is keeping a close eye and seems like the sort of guy to make his thoughts known.

I don't think Moshiri is quite as checked out as people think (he's definitely been taking meetings on Merseyside recently) and I imagine would still take action if required.

Yes he has to protect his investment certainly so whilst interest may have wained recently because the money’s dried up, so he can’t indulge in his favourite past time of football manager, he won’t be completely disengaged. I just hope in Kenwright’s absence Thelwell becomes a major influencer with him.
