This is another frustration

Got a top young player out on loan flying allbeit in a division below yet we found it acceptable to go and spend upwards of 75m on three other players who play in his position?

Quite bizarre
Key bit to your post is 'in a division below'. He didn't have the consistency to play in the Premier League as he drifted in and out of games and was on the periphery. This is still the case but improving apparently according to Forest fans. Glad he's playing well, it's been a good loan for him.

It's the 75 mill investment into the position that's the issue

where would fatsam or dyche play him if he was recalled? Would love to see him in our team but atm I think he is better off where he is sadly for us Forest fans love him...one of my friends who is a S/T holder there thinks that he will be a future international and wants him to stay with them..even allowing them to think about the Prem..??

You have to say that of all our young players Dowell has been the most frustrating, because he has the most natural talent, a beautifully cultured left foot but his lack of application , tendency to drift out of games and fade after 60 mins have caused that frustration . The Forest fans were picking up the same things in his early matches. In the last four or five games though he has shown he is kicking on. I don’t mean the 25 yard wonder goals , we’ve seen him do that a number of times over the years, and not just the number of assists he’s adding to the goals , I think that’s six goals and four assists in recent games. The subtle flicks or pass to a team mate are now more penetrating , opening defences , creating space and leading to goals one pass after his so he doesn’t get recognition as an assist but he has played a significant role. The third goal in today’s Forest win is an example of that , and if you track Forest’s goals he’s done something similar on at least two recent occaisions that I’ve seen. The other aspect that is very pleasing is that he’s started three games in the past eight days , playing 90 mins twice and 77 mins today, taken off with Forest leading 3-0, he’s got stronger and fitter . He's still got at least two months at Forest that we can’t do anything about no matter how much people moan about it, that’s time for him to continue improving and developing and return and even better player.

You're so right, it looks like he's recently been moved inside and has taken more responsibility. He needs to be involved more in the game to flourish, as in the 1st goal today he won the ball centrally, drove forward and created a tap in. And if he loses it in the last third then so what, the best players in the world are forgiven as they are trying to do the exceptional.
Shame Ross Barkley wasn't given the same understanding.

Dowell was not ready for the premier league this season and this loan has given him the chance to play regular at a decent level. Still not premier league level and although he has been a hit at Forest you still see his flaws. He is no doubt one who will be beneficial to us but this loan is doing him the world of good and helping him iron out some flaws. He will be so much better prepared when he returns rather than being a bit player here this season. Should have done the same with DCL if we had only got another striker in.

It’s worth reading the views of the Forest fans on Dowell, I’ve found them fair and knowledgeable on him , here’s a few after Saturday.
“Always liked Dowell but such a WIP so needed this loan move badly and just needs to keep playing. On Saturday he was unplayable. Some touches were sublime. One single touch on the edge of our box allowed us to rip QPR apart and get to their box in under 10 seconds.

His off the ball work is improving. Sometimes he is knocked off the ball but he is getting stronger and it is happening less. “
WIP I assume is Work in progress”

This from @atrottel ’ players on loan an thread if not already seen it.

"What a game from him (again)"
"He made all the right decisions today. Every pass had purpose and released it in timely fashion... Dowell seems to be one of those that makes the right decision when he has less time to make it."
"He has a lot of features in his play/attitude that reminds me of a very young Theirry Henri. Not as much finese, but the awareness of the moving team and willingness to play the unpredictable pass is sublime."
"He's the brains in the middle, With Bennys energy, they were irresistible in tandem today. Dowells a real talent. Thought his all round game was a joy to watch."
"He aint going anywhere.... hes good, but not a prem player yet"
"He's done really well, but needs to cut out losing the ball on the half way line (which he does a bit too regularly), leaving the defence exposed to a quick counter attack. This would get punished a lot more in the prem."
"Won't happen. They'll want him for when he's ready for PL football. He's not ready yet. Rinsing QPR is one thing, doing it week in, week out against top teams is another. Fitness is massively improved already to the point he can complete 90 minutes but he's still letting himself down at times not choosing the right pass or thinking he's got longer than he does. Wouldn't have made a difference to him at youth level but at this level and especially the one above little mistakes get punished. Also think he needs to add either physicality or nimbleness to his game to fully make the step up. At the moment he is neither strong, nor is he fast or tricky. Needs a full season at this level but the boy has got the natural talent to go the whole way."
