2017/18 Kieran Dowell

From the highlights I've seen, he seemed to be playing more centrally rather than out on the right as usual, maybe just his position from clips. The outside of the left foot pass was pure Dowell, we've seen him do those quick, deft 10-20 yd passes so often . Perhaps as important , it showed that not only is he on the same wavelength as his team mates in spotting their runs, but at this level the players are capable of making clear runs into space to receive the ball. If it had been finished it would have been a brilliant assist.

I watched a fair bit of the second half on watchespn here in the states and he was wide right for sections but clearly has been given the freedom to drift inside when suitable. He had multiple other little flicks to get players in space that weren't as spectacular but the kind of football we're used to from him and the kind we saw very little of from Everton today.

I watched it a fair few times mate, pearler of a ball.
It's like watching a golfer who always has just the right spin to make the ball chuck up. The ball he played ended up sitting perfectly for Clough so he could continue running without breaking stride. It's the little things that separate great from good. How many times do you see that ball run all the way to corner?

That's what he can do mate, he has just got to.iron out other parts to his game and I think the championship is a great step for him this season..

Hopefully brings the very best out of him

Without a doubt he's at his best centrally. When I've seen him there at U23 level, particularly in 2015/16 he was always available for a pass, demanding the ball from his team mates and running the game. He can do a job out wide but I think he gets isolated and drifts out of the game as a result. He's a natural no 10 and potentially a top class one.

I think his confidence took a knock last season because Koeman froze him out of first team squad. Hopefully this loan sees him getting his confidence back and improving as a player.
