Could watch it over and over again
From the highlights I've seen, he seemed to be playing more centrally rather than out on the right as usual, maybe just his position from clips. The outside of the left foot pass was pure Dowell, we've seen him do those quick, deft 10-20 yd passes so often . Perhaps as important , it showed that not only is he on the same wavelength as his team mates in spotting their runs, but at this level the players are capable of making clear runs into space to receive the ball. If it had been finished it would have been a brilliant assist.
It's like watching a golfer who always has just the right spin to make the ball chuck up. The ball he played ended up sitting perfectly for Clough so he could continue running without breaking stride. It's the little things that separate great from good. How many times do you see that ball run all the way to corner?I watched it a fair few times mate, pearler of a ball.

Another look
It was indeed a pass of great beautyThat's an absolute beauty
And it looks even better because he's playing in blue! The audacity. The technique. Even the perfect weight. A beauty.
Was a good pass but let's not get all Pirlo about it lads. Wasn't exactly an impossible task.
Without a doubt he's at his best centrally. When I've seen him there at U23 level, particularly in 2015/16 he was always available for a pass, demanding the ball from his team mates and running the game. He can do a job out wide but I think he gets isolated and drifts out of the game as a result. He's a natural no 10 and potentially a top class one. From the highlights I've seen, he seemed to be playing more centrally rather than out on the right as usual, maybe just his position from clips.
