Koeman: "Barkley looking for a new challenge"

Why sign a new deal if you want out?!
Who said he needed to sign a new contract? I certainly didn't in the post you quoted me in. He should of gone public with his wishes to leave if he felt so strongly about it. Instead he whined to the club who obviously tried to convince him to stay. He didn't have the bottle to go public because he's a pathetic little child scared of the nasty things people might say to him. Total gutless worm.

It's not down to Ross though. He's made it clear how much he wants out and is probably prepared to except personal terms quickly so that's sorted. Now its down to other clubs putting in an offer we consider acceptable and I'm not sure we'll get one unless it's a panic buy on deadline day. If nobody comes in though I can see Ross signing a new deal just for appearances sake and either going next year or even in Jan for a more acceptable sum of money. He's really backed himself into a corner here because he's left us in a position were we might be better off letting him rot with the U23's rather then selling.

If he wants Champions League from an English club then one of those clubs had better stump up £30m or it would be in our best interests to sit him in Greggs for 12 months.

We would gain nothing from selling him undervalued to a rival. Would be better for us to run his career down as he has his contract. Works both ways.

Once he is on his 5th Steak Bake on another wasted Saturday in September he may have a change of mind about his contract.

I heard "wants a new challenge" actually means 'may well find life outside of Merseyside better for his general well- being'....nothing to do with the DutchOverlord.
This.....the rumour mill is now well into overdrive but the silence is deafening...

Possibly 2 years ago he did not want to leave, maybe something has happened in his personal life lately which means he has to get away from Everton / Merseyside area. No one will ever know the proper facts until Ross actually explains them...(that's if he ever does)

He told Koeman simply that he wants champions league that has been admitted by Koeman on quite a few occasions, that's what has changed, he is simply looking out for his own best interests. Being an Evertonian can't mean that much to him obviously.

Hope he enjoys those Champion's League games while he sits on the bench then. Because he won't even come close to starting games at any of the club's either in the champions league or seriously aiming for it.

I know you've made it clear you don't like Ross on here but there's no need to rewrite history. That same Ross was also selfish and rarely put other players in. Lots of shots blasted over the top too. He's come on leaps and bounds since then.

Rewrite history ? He was immense in that game. And he had a few games like that early in his Everton career. And I honestly can't remember the last time he dominated a game like that

Can at Liverpool.
Sanchez and Ozil at arsenal
Herrera at United

Ereksen at spurs last summer

All one year left going into contract talks mate.

So basically that's the rs, arsenal, United and spurs who have done the same thing on prized assets.

None of them local and none of them devoted supporters of their clubs and therefore not too easy to tie down.

The Barkley departure is in a whole other category.

Going to Newcastle, I heard...or West Ham.

:coffee:

He would play at least. Not sure how sitting on the bench at Spurs until they realized he can't play as a 6 or an 8 would help his career.

Though he was going to West Ham. Where was the poster who said it was a done deal a month ago? Done. Locked in.
