Two things that stick out...

His link up play will be better than what we have. I think Jelavic struggled with that side of laying it off then being in good areas to score if at all. It could help Jelavic be the fox in the box that he's best at.

He's also direct, strong, and likes the ball on the floor. So that will limit the hoofs and forwards losing headers, stopping attacks and giving away possession. Think we have to be patient if he loses the ball when trying to beat a player.

The other thing that I've a slight concern about is the "right place, right time". Jelavic had this his first season, didn't in the 2nd. Some players get lucky and the sense of surprise helps players the 1st time. 2nd season, that luck runs out and defenders clock on so it becomes harder. The better players overcome that. So Kone will need to be more than that type of player.

I wouldn't be surprised with him out left and Pienaar playing in the middle.

Yeah I think the fact he spent less time in the box last year than either vic or jelavic is promising. If he can do the leg work for jelavic they might be a decent combo assuming jelavic remembers how to play football again.

this fella looks good scoring in the prem too!

Being critical... Most of those goals he scuffed, an rolling into his 2nd season his "first touch shot" technique either got stopped by defenders closing him down, or he cocked it up completely.

Needs more to his game.

That's the only bit that worried me slightly. However, Jelavic is pretty much just a poacher, he doesn't have any of Kone's other main attributes like pace and dribbling.

I'm not sure about him on the left. I think he'd be good there but I think that's Mirallas' best position personally, but then Mirallas can also play up front.

I'm interested to see how we'll set up whichever way it will be.

Oh aye, yeah... Benteke will definitely be going for a fee that we can afford.

That pretty much sums up his downfall for me this season.

He just wasn't getting the space he was used to and eventually his confidence obliterated.

Villa will be a decent bet to go down now.

Saw him play an awful lot last year, good player, good signing, will give us a different dimension, 15 + next season if he starts for me. Hes a very creative player wit excellent movement fits right in tbh.

Oh very true. But you get a better understanding of a player when he struggles.

What made him a player to keep an eye on ended up going missing and you want to see more to his game.

His game seems to be a guy in the box, makes space, and scores. Anything more than that he lacks.

I said it at the time that this lad was bad news. Talented player but at his press conference when signing for Villa he spoke of his desire to play for Arsenal. You cannot underestimate how much damage the wrong characters can do to a club.
