KRIOC - Keep Rodwell In Our City

Player Valuation: £70m
I think it is absolutely vital that we retain the services of Jack Rodwell, if he is forced to go elsewhere for success or money, then we have really missed an opportunity to get back where we belong.

If Chelsea or United are going to pay their best players £100k a week, then we need to find a way to do the same. Jack Rodwell is not going to stay on less than £50k if he can get double elsewhere.

A Manc at work today said that through Jay Spearing's cousin and a friend of his, he said that he has already signed for United for £18m. I have also heard from a relative of a former Everton academy player now at Chester that Rodwell is going to United, he went to his 18th birthday and found out there.

Personally I think it's a load of old tosh, but if he did end up at United it would not surprise me at all.

Anyone else heard anything at all?

If we do lose this talent then we may as well forget any ambition that the club have. Especially the way the team is playing at the moment, and the players to come back and the talent bursting through. We could be looking at a title in the next 5 years, maybe sooner. I certainly think we will win it before the [Poor language removed] do.

I thought United had no money?

I think Everton would think long and hard about a 20 million pound offer.

If Jack goes I would not be suprised if others follow why stay at a selling club, having said that untill its a done deal or LCAB confirms it I am opened minded

18m for Spearing, this made my day

And keeping Rodwell is not vital, vital is keeping one of Fellaini/Rodwell, and other important first team players as well, while using available money to strengthen areas which needs more quality.

Personally I agree with the bold bit. United would have made a loss if not for the Ronaldo transfer out last year.

The 8% bond reduces their "interest" payment from average debt interest of 14%... but still 8% of £720million is £60million!

So even if they turnover more than £60million of their outgoings (whats United's wage/revenue ratio?) they still have to find that £60million a season, before they begin paying down their debts!!!

Bear in mind a Champions League qualification to the knockouts - only covers half that £60million.

United's days of being a superpower spender are gone! NO MATTER WHAT DAVID GILL SAYS.

Unless they take out more loans - they won't be able to buy.

I'll wait to hear from LCAB. But Everton can sit on Rodwell without many worries.

Rodwell didn't have to sign his 5 year deal last year, he could have gone to united then but didn't.

Lots of rumour going round. Jay Spearing? Like he would know. Or someone at Chester ! Chester are barely in existance now!

But Moyes wouldn't have had the confidence to go on national radio BBC5 Live and say what he said yesterday otherwise. He pretty much said, he doesn't have the worries he had with Wayne Rooney.

And I don't either. United are not what they were.

What are you on about?

Firstly, I never said £18m for Spearing, I said Spearing was the source of the rumour.

And secondly, keeping Rodwell is vital, not because he is better or worse than Fellaini - he is a different player, but he has similar potential. It's important because we can say then that we don't need to sell our academy players to keep afloat. It would also bury some of the Rooney ghosts.
