Lacina Traore

Yes, agreed, and we had that with Naismith. Also Kev can, and did for the last section of the match, play there. Just think that his difference may be overstated, what if his touch had been terrible? The mistake I think Martinez made was starting Osman. A couple of good turns and one shot in the first 5-10 mins then nothing. Traore wasn't the mistake, Barkley not starting was.

Naismith did,nt have one shot on target in the game !

We paid for a striker, who was on the bench and passed fit.

Kev can play as a striker only in the sense that it is physically possible for him to stand in a place on the pitch where a striker would normally be.

Mirallas saw a lot more of the ball when Naismith was playing centrally, he barely had a touch once Naismith played out wide. This, for me, was why the substitutions had no effect. He should have kept Naismith in the middle, Mirallas is not a centre forward, as proved yesterday, and also in the first half against Villa. He gets more joy from out wide.

The Barkley for Pienaar subsitute was disastrous for us, tbh.

Naismith was awful outwide, Mirallas anonymous in the middle and having rendered two players useless in order to make that swap Barkley wasn't even an actual improvement for Pienaar.

In all fairness Traore is 6’8”, we hadn’t threatened their goal for a while and didn’t look like doing so. We were getting the ball in good wide areas and there were no options in the middle. We must have had the smallest side in the Premiership at one point on the pitch. Put Traore on and even if his touch is terrible like you said, at least you have a target in the box, and suddenly with having a lad so tall in there, it would have made Spurs defend differently, or at least give them something to think about. Let’s not forget the lad is actually a footballer as well. Would they still defend so deep knowing we have a giant upfront? Could it have made them push out a little more and in turn created space for Mirallas or Deulofeu to run in to?

Barkley is always closed down very quickly these days as people know he likes to hang on to the ball and try to make something happen. If you have someone in front of him like Lukaku then he has someone to work with and someone who can use the space created by them closing down Barkley to our advantage. If you have nothing in front of him then Barkley is almost just thrown to the wolves. Go on Ross lad, get your shot off from 40 yards with two people closing you down.

Dunno mate.

Roberto Martinez is a better football manager than you or me. Probably knows what he's doing like.

I'm sorry but have you gone mad recently?

You're predicting something that hasn't happened yet and then justifying it when people are arguing that would be a weird move that even if you don't understand why martinez would do that thing that you're predicting he would do he's a good manager and probably has a good reason for it.

He hasn't done it, he might never do it! This is literally just something you've thought up yourself. You can't play the Martinez knows best card on that, you mainiac.

One of the most baffling things I've ever read.

I know it was, what has gone wrong with you, man?

Nothing really mate. Well a few things but none really Everton related!

Just can't be bothered fuming about something we don't really know about.

Yes Traore was on the bench. No he didn't come on. Could be about 7 million reasons why not.

- maybe he was there to make up the numbers as it was meant to be Vellios all along but he's been up all night slotting.
- maybe he got a niggle warming up
- maybe an away game at Spurs wasn't the right game to introduce him to the Premier League
- maybe he forgot his size 87 boots
- maybe he did a Tevez

And of course,

- maybe Martinez just made a mistake.

All as likely as each other really or maybe something else.
