Doesnt sound promising: Landon out!

New Everton signing Landon Donovan insists he has moved to Goodison Park for a few months of fun.

The American striker has transferred to the Toffees on a three-month loan from Major League Soccer outfit Los Angeles Galaxy.

Donovan will link up with USA team-mate Tim Howard

at Everton, and he admitted the goalkeeper played a part in his move.

"I'm very excited about this opportunity," he said. "This is almost the perfect opportunity when everything is put together like this.

"Tim was the first guy to call me, along with my agent, when he heard Everton might be interested and we talked about it and what the expectations were.

"That was an important step for me to realise it is just about coming in for a few months and having a kick-about.

"The reality is I'm here to do a job. I'm here to have fun for a few months.

"What I'm good at is trying and having fun and that is what I'll try to do here.

" I think most sides can use a player like that - who just wants to have fun."

Strange that mate....Sky Sports News have the video saying he's here NOT to have fun.

New Everton signing Landon Donovan insists he has not moved to Goodison Park for a few months of fun.

"This is the middle of the season, they have a few injuries and need immediate help so I have to be ready and that helped me prepare.
"The reality is I'm here to do a job and help the team win. I'm not just here to have fun for a few months.
"What I'm good at is creating chances and that is what I'll try to do here.
"I just like to be a danger to the other team and I think most sides can use a player like that - now I have to prove I belong and help score some goals."
Firepower

Donovan, 27, spent a similar period on loan at Bundesliga side Bayern Munich last season and Toffees fans will be hoping he can provide some much-needed firepower up front.
The former Bayer Leverkusen attacker revealed that he spoke with Galaxy team-mate David Beckham

before moving to England, and that he thinks he will benefit from his time at Everton.

"David and I we speak a lot about his time here and he is confident I will do fine," he added.
"Knowing him, being around him and playing with him I can see what it takes to make it at a place like this and if you are not ready and prepared you can get passed by.
"That is good learning from me and I am taking these two-and-a-half months very seriously.
"This is a great opportunity for me and I don't want it to pass me by so I'm going to make the most of it."
However, Donovan is certain that he will return to the United States in March when his loan deal expires.
He remarked: "I've just signed an extension with LA so my plans are to be in LA for the next few years at least and then we'll see what happens."

Sounds hungry to play. Hopefully GOT will find that better to stomach.:P

For what it's worth, Landon Donovan has been playing pickup games with members of the national team, MLS and college players at the Home Depot Center in LA over the last few weeks.

He's more than likely fit to play (75min or more) at this point

How nice would that be if you're a college player and you just mosey on down to the HDC, walk in and next thing you know, you're playing a bit of footy with those cats?

The signing of Donovan has brought an influx of American soccer fans to this forum, welcome they are as well, however what if he is crap playing from the start at the Emirates, as seems likely he will get the nod. Will this board degenerate into total warfare, pro and anti Donovan.....................I just hope, if he does play, that he gets away with at least a so so, anything less will bring bad comments over observations made in this thread by both sides especially if we get a battering.

I think I'll order the popcorn for five on Saturday

nope 2 games hes aloud and after that if he is a god then i will pray! but if he is [Poor language removed] then i will just drink my self to death quitly and beat the cat up badly!

for mr(cats name) sake i hope he does ace!

It was enivatable really wasnt it:

He was David Beckham’s fiercest critic six months ago, but Landon Donovan adopted a more conciliatory tone as he prepared for his bow in English football and admitted he may have misjudged his Los Angeles Galaxy team-mate.

Everton’s new temporary signing took a dim view of Beckham’s decision to sacrifice part of last year’s Major League Soccer season to remain on loan at AC Milan.

He said then: ‘If someone is paying you more than double anyone in the league, the least we expect is that you show up to every game.

Maybe he is not a leader or captain. Fair enough, but as a minimum, you should bust your ass every day. That has not happened.’

After seeing Beckham gradually win over sceptical Galaxy fans, Donovan conceded he may have been wrong in his assessment.

‘I have learned a lot about David and he is a very humble, good human being,’ said the America forward.

"Ididn’t give him a chance to show that. I had a preconceived idea of what he was like before he arrived in LA.

'It wasn’t necessarily that I thought he would be big-time, but he is just so famous all round the world that you sometimes don’t give people like that a chance.

‘If any player had the chance to play for AC Milan, it would be an incredible opportunity. He can still hack it in South Africa, absolutely.’
