Last Film You Watched

Yeh the Director has already said there won’t be one. I hope there isn’t a sequel myself. I wouldn’t mind another film in that universe but not a Joker 2 as it were.
There will be a sequel because there is massive creative scope for it, if Phoenix wants it then it will happen, can always get a new director but the money on offer from the studio then how is the director going to turn it down?

No way it grosses 1 billion and counting and the studio don't do a sequel.

Yeh like I said, I’m not ruling out another film in that universe I just can’t see them doing a Joker 2. Personally think it opens up a can of worms and also ruins a lot of the mystique around Joker.

Plus I’m just one of those people that doesn’t understand everyone’s obsession with sequels. Sometimes it’s nice to just make a great film and leave it alone.

You underestimate peoples greed.

It is ripe for a sequel for all the right reasons, the scope to explore the character is there, which is why Phoenix was saying the same to the director after a couple of weeks filming, the material to work with is rich and exactly what an actor of Phoenix's calibre is looking for.

If they plan to do a sequel people will one day down the line be asking for Batman to be involved and that isn’t physically possible. Referring to my earlier point of spoiling a brilliant Joker film.

Joker will kick-off DC Black and let’s see where it goes from there.

I disagree, it's like no other comic book universe film ever produced, and a game changer for studio's shying away from R rated because they think they can't make enough dough out of that class of film.

Can't wait for the sequel.

Some of the best battle scenes you’ll ever see. You feel like you’re in the cockpit with the pilots.

Slightly let down by the inclusion of unnecessary ( imo) domestic stuff away from the battles.

Worth seeing for the battle scenes alone.

Disagree on which part of the post.

Plus Deadpool(s) have already shown there’s money in R- rated comic book films.
That it needs to include Batman, there is plenty of room to explore this character before he goes anywhere near Batman, Bruce Wayne is a child in the current film.

Deadpool is R rated more for language, not the dark material Joker explores, the development of someone mentally ill into a serial killer, that's not Deadpool is it?

Yes, I said eventually introducing Batman. We’re already conceding Joaquin’s Joker isn’t the Joker the minute we start to expand the universe. This means any future sequels leading up to Batman need to then introduce the actual Joker.

There’s also possibly zero source material for any sort of plot line after this Joker film since it’s very loosely based on The Killing Joke and anything else produced about The Joker tends to fall when Batman is an adult.

Since when does R-rated = exclusively serial killers? It’s a rating for a film; both films were R-rated and both were box office hits.

We are not going to see eye to eye so whatever.

Deadpool is R rated for language, not for the topic Joker explores regarding mental illness, but yes both are R rated, one is considerably darker.
